i commend whomever it was that set out into FFXIV to get everything you guys needed to make this trailer. honestly, i can tell you guys genuinely enjoyed the game and played it in earnest. didn't just hop on the hype train for XIV to generate clout with a video on it. well done, and well met ^^

The Honest Trailers guy kind of talks like he actually plays the game in this video. Sure, most of the things he jokes about he could have heard about online, but there was just something about the presentation that made me think it was first-hand knowledge.

The ending was the most over-the-top anime thing ever, but it worked really well for me since by the time you're in endwalker you're like 200+ hours into this story, and all the other expansions have been considerably more grounded. The escalation feels earned and like a logical place to go

I started playing XIV a couple of months before Endwalker released and joined the community right after I finished the story. This trailer was too honest for its own good, especially the comments on glamour game, waiting for rare spawns, and grinding for gated currency.

The only thing that'll make warrior mains complain is if they remove fell cleave. We are a simple breed. Drk mains only know how to complain. Give em the best DPS of all tanks and with tbn and other good mitigations and they still complain.

@@blakec8549 I mean TBN is really lackluster compared Holy Sheltron, Heart of Corundum, and Bloodwhetting. TBN really only shines on single Target attacks that can break it and fails when compared to multi hit busters and wall to wall add pulls. Just because DRK has the highest dmg doesn't mean that's an excuse for the rest of it's toolkit to suffer. That's like saying your car is fine even though a tire is leaking air.

I do appreciate your insight though. It hasn't really changed my opinion much. I still think dark knights are all around more useful. Warrior is great and my favorite tank to play, but it only excels in situations where your healer sucks

Yeahhh I have to agree with the above reply, everything was good aside from saying DRK got love this expansion when it's literally the worst job in the game functionally.

@@lj_aderyn Apparently DRK does really good boss damage for a tank, so it's got that going. It's mostly in an awkward spot for dungeons since it can't do large pulls as easily, but for timed damage like in a raid it's probably fine?

@@jedimasterpickle3 It does good damage yeah but it lacks in just about every aspect and it basically only got 1 damaging ability in Endwalker which was a reused animation from an old removed ability. Defensively all they got was a 10% mitigation with 2 charges. Meanwhile Warrior got so much self healing it can solo any non-savage content. Gunbreaker got a new mitigation which heals them when they are low health. Paladin got Holy Sheltron which is just everything Sheltron was but with extra damage reduction, and massive regen slapped on for good measure. Basically, every other tank was given a ton of new toys which make then unique and amazing, DRK got a recycled ability and higher damage, not that anyone who plays tank to be a tank should be basing their decision off of how much damage a tank does anyway.

@@lj_aderyn I am aware of the differences between DRK and the other tanks in this expansion. I have all four at 90. I'm just saying, while DRK was clearly overlooked, it's not like it's unusable. I didn't realize the Shadowbringer ability was an old animation, though. I first leveled DRK in...well, Shadowbringers.

Realm reborn only fixed the base mechanics. The patch leading to heavensward added the content (such as the Golden saucer, hidlbrand, dungeons and raids...) Heavensward kicked the narrative into epicness. Stormblood polished the mechanics. Shadowbringers brought real emotion. Endwalker is just the cherry on top.

Loved Endwalker, not the biggest fan of the Garlean arc (it's insanely good tho) because it feelt uncomfortable especially since I'm German and the Garlean mindset is really close to the nazi Germany one i immagin. I think I was just sitting there in utter disbelief thinking "how can people think that way?" And then remembering that a lot of my country used to be this way, some people even still thinking that way and that probably some of my ancestors thought the same way

I never thought of Garlemald as Germany, more like a Roman Empire with magiteck. I mean, all those those fancy names and titles?...But as we arrived, my first thought was "Wait, what? Do they live in Siberia? And they heavily depend on oil extraction too? Spells Russia to me". I don't know whether those Russian\Soviet vibes had been intentional, but it's kinda hard to dismiss them. Don't get me wrong, the zone itself and the story arc is truly amazing in all parts - design, sound, music, writing. It's just not what I expected to see.

Relatable. When I started FF XIV, game had doubly difficult task. I didn't belive it would be a good MMO and because of my dissapointment in FF franchise since FF12, I didn't belive it would be good Final Fantasy game. I expected to be an advertisement for modern instalments. It was cool experience to see how much wrong I was.

Man, I really wish I could still play mmos. I have a character somewhere midway through Stormblood’s leveling zones, but my life just doesn’t let me play those kind of time-sink games anymore. As an old WoW veteran from vanilla through Pandaland, FFXIV is the real deal for the genre.

FFXIV isnt a time sink game in that sense though. Yeh there's a lot you CAN sink your time into if you want, and you need a sub to play, but the game doens't demand that you do. You can log in as infrequently as you want and not "fall behind". You can complete the main scenario at your own pace, and old content is never removed so you can do it when you have the time. It's kinda the perfect MMO for people who don't have time to play MMOs lol

Yoshi-P (the lead developer of FFXIV) states that he doesn't want you to feel like you need to log in everyday. He wants you to play the game when new content comes out, and do other things when there is down time, and that really shows in the game's development philosophy. I think you'd be fine just picking up the game when you have some spare time, even if it's only a few hours a week. Assuming you can justify the monthly sub for the time you put into it.
