Playing the game in hard is very fun, I have to explore multiple scenarios and skills! I abuse Corrin’s dragon veil with Jean to spam ice obstacles, then dance him and do more ice obstacles. Byleth’s goddess dance is absolutely broken, and I also like to use Lucina’s bond shield and Lyn’s clones in defensive formations. I am having tons of fun.

Since each Emblem gets a boost when paired with Alear, you should see what he gets up to with Eirika. At max bond, mine was dealing 120 damage to everything he came across.

I like to use the very ranged attack, then dance him and clones, sometime I also dispel the clones, dance him and create new Clones in a more advanced position. I can`t really do much of a comparison since i have not played any recent fire emblem games except maybe a bit of the one on Nintendo Wii, the Demo for 3 Hopes and before that would be the GBA series of them. But in all honesty, they REALLY could of cut down alot of the slog elements. 1. Loading screens are always a pain, why couldn`t Arena and Ring chamber just be a interactive menu in Somniel then need an entire room and loading screen dedicated to it? Appearance is nice but it could of been a door that simply opened up when you walked next to it, like say some PREVIOUS nintendo switch games did? 2. If items actually piled up over time or just all the collectibles gathered in a basket, then i would have a reason to care more about 70% of the collectibles in somniel. Doesn`t help the 2~4 instances of bond fragments you get per fight stick to a measely 50 or 100 each. 3. Mini-game activities do not really need to be rewarding, but i think it would of been better if you selected a `partner` npc to do with dragon riding and fishing, so just like with meals, you could of got bond value with. Also i do not really see the point of alternate rods and having a large selection of meals when the food buffs can usually mean not much, cannot stack with consumable buffs, etc. 4. It would of probably been nice instead of burning money to improve nation rewards, that you instead invested money and resources to improve SOMNIEL so it drastically boosted rewards, bond fragments acquired, exp gained in arena and so on. Better to manage ONE element then FOUR of them. Lots of games did that approach before and i think i would rather expand my 4 or something animal slots to 8 for 200k+ gold then get outfits that are recolors for the most part on `casual` outfits unlocked by completing story chapters. Nor do i see much point raising the odds of a gold or silver corrupted spawning in a specific nation by 5 or 10% after sinking 25k+ gold when i`m likely gonna always see one in ANY of the 4 nations with all the nodes that pile up as i do paralogues, trials and so on. 5. Anyone is gonna likely agree on this 5th point, why the frick was it made so hard to acquire money. I remember plenty of games that just let you sell excess materials to pile up currency, Engage could of been more pleasant if i could just hoarde ingots/consumables/etc. and sell the surplus then playing a luck kill game with Anna or spamming Gold corrupted stages every time to scalp money. Would of been WAY BETTER to do that then have to go out of your way for one specific resource. 6. Thars a thing i will always rant about in mobile games and can be applied here: FRIK a game with too many currency loops to jump thru. Gold is understandable but they should of not had character specific SP and we just ran with bond fragments for all forms of character development. You can atleast use bond fragments to grind a bond on a specific character to unlock requirements for class change, but it gets real annoying if you dont have access to specific rings just yet or had lost access to them (AKA my first issue when i found out later on how Yunaka is a Magic user power house and slipping Canter on some units is delicious). MIGHT of been less of a hassle if i had a better idea on SP gain to manage it better then just have one unit solo an entire skirmish map where if they are that strong by that point i have not much reason to farm for a specific character on said SP. 7. With Also, FRIK the bond ring gacha system, Could of just been 10 rings with no ranks, but they had to have 4 ranks so you had 40 rings per emblem for a total of 480 total rings. Even with the exploit, i lost interest in seed exploiting due to how much of a PAIN it is to spam reload and understand prologue/story seed advancement values and pray you land on an S rank of a specific slot. But since you might want multiple of the same ability since SOME of the 24 abilities present on 2 S-rank rings per emblem group are rather garbage and the others rely on using niche specific weapons, its not worth hassle, even if you wanna go with a maddening run, since you could spend more time spamming skirmishes to grind gold to enhance gear instead.... 8. Oh and on top of enhancing gear, i see little point of engage weapon enhancing since you have to go thru ANOTHER entirely separate game mode which is basically take down 30~40+ high level enemies in a map about 3 times to get a smidgeon of orbs to give a +1 stat to one outta 3 weapons per emblem. Too much effort to work on one specific weapon that the unit can only use while transformed anyway. Maybe if you got the orbs while doing SKIRMISHES in general, but if this requires an online mode or spamming it on end game to efficiently farm said orbs, not much point grinding the weapons if you are already at the end of the game...This aint a mobile game so i do not see much reason to have an insane grind system for near non-existent boons, even on casual mode.

Is the story generic? Oh yeah, absolutely. But the gameplay is so fun, it more than makes up for it for me. As for the characters, I think they’re kind of similar to the 3H characters: in that, a lot of them have one defining trait that’s revealed to be tied to an oftentimes tragic backstory. For example, one of the characters is a happy-go-lucky, exercise-obsessed weirdo. But then you find out he has a terminal illness, which explains why he’s so crazy about fitness and trying to enjoy life. Edit: Since I keep getting “3H characters are better, comments” let me explain: I’m not saying they’re as deep as those characters. I’m saying it continues the trend Fire Emblem, including 3H, has of characters that seem one note until they explain their quirks with a backstory. Let’s try to really read the comment, huh?

Fun fact: On the hardest difficulty, enemies will walk right past units that they can't do damage to or have 0% accuracy against. Also, normal mode is basically easy mode, but hard mode is a decent challenge this time.

Most people don’t really abuse the Time Crystal, so it sounds like the players who put this script together played on Normal/Casual, and only won through time-travel abuse. It’s just kind of disappointing in regards to storytelling. Awakening, Fates, Echoes, and 3H had such strong story and bond interactions that had you care about the them. But this game everyone is so one track. There are still good characters. Zelkov, Yunaka, Ivy, Diamant, Alcryst, and Pandero are all great. Zelkov and Yunaka are so well written they feel like they’re part of a different game

Agreed, it's rather strange how there's this jumbled mix of very good characters (well written) and just terrible ones all in the same game. Like if you stand Diamant or Zelkov next to, say...Panette or Hortensia, I would have answered they were from completely different games. The designs don't bother me that much. For example, Yunaka's star hair is pretty ridiculous, but she's such a good character that I don't mind. Her support with Seadall is one of my favs in the whole game.

@Lady Lapis The combat is fantastic there isn’t an argument about that. Heroes already serves as a kind of celebration of the series. Also the moment in chapter 11 where Lucian and Lyn’s emblems come to save you hits on such a strong and heartfelt level due to them giving life to the series in the west. I also said there were several really well written characters, but some characters feel lazily written because they needed a bond for some reason. Also Shadow Dragon? Really. It’s nowhere near that bland and boring. Don’t mind the anime aesthetic, also Fire Emblen has always had an anime aesthetic.

People say its easy but after a few single digit enemy acc 's and a few also 0.xx% crits will change your mind on it being easy. BTW 0.XX% is displayed as 0% in game crit chance but it will still CRIT so hard it will make you reset the entire encounter 🤣

So I love Honest Trailers. I do. But it's abundantly clear that they haven't actually played the game regarding how they talk about the difficulty. Because this game is way harder than made it sound. Unless they played it on Easy, in which case they need to make that clear.

This honest game trailer is not honest on the difficulty. It's true that playing on casual normal can be straightforward but playing hard classic will be challenging. Now if you play it on the madenning mode, you will have in my view the most difficult fire emblem of the franchise so far.

I don't mind that newer Fire Emblem games have Casual difficulty modifiers and Time Rewind mechanics. I'm not paying $70 for a brand-new Nintendo game (plus another chunk of cash for DLC) just for half of the cast to go out like chumps because an enemy reinforcement spawned right next to them at the worst possible moment.

@someanimefan5990 The bosses move beyond what the danger zone will tell you and even if you have a unit with 200 avoid, if you get swarmed with backups you can still get chipped to death. This game punishes arrogance.

It would help if the devs called easy "easy". I played on Hard here, but I fell for that "normal" difficulty label when I started 3H (Not helped by the fact that 3H launched without Maddening, so there was no picking the middle difficulty.)
