It's a parody of real government ads. You may note the misspelling of the word Australian, in the logo for the "Western Australien (sic) Government". This allows them to say it's an official WA Government advertisement without having to add a verbal or written disclaimer. As you can't legally pretend to be someone you're not, if they used the correct spelling for Australian then they would have needed to put in a disclaimer, which may have affected the feel/flow of the parody.

Australia is great on many aspects but when it comes to the Paris Accords, Climate and environmental protection, they're one of the worst offenders of the Western world. Western Australia made smart deals and arrangements with mining companies to ensure that the residents of Western Australia would always have access to reasonable priced electricity and gas. Just on the Tesla Battery site, that's not used to help power the country. It's only used to help power South Australia when interstate powerlines when brought down in storms. So it's useful but not in any kind of renewable energy way.

@brosert2 жыл бұрын
In 2017(?) a severe storm knocked out all power to South Australia (essentially some interconnector between Vic and SA got knocked out, overloading the demand on the network). While there was theoretically power available, firing up power plants takes time, and power networks don't cope well with fluctuations (I think there was a famous outage in the US caused by unexpected network fluctuations that cascaded across a lot of the country - not sure on details). Anywho, if the network had some sort of balancing the network may have coped better (probably still with a partial failure, but not the whole network in the state going bye-bye). Musk saw an opportunity to sell a battery (it helps balance network load) and offered to set it up - "free if not completed in 100 days"). It copped a lot of criticism, because theoretically the battery can only power the state for a very short amount of time - but the point of it is load balancing rather than continued power (in a similar way most UPS are designed to give you enough power to safely shut down systems rather that to continue normal operations during an outage). The SA Government took him up on the offer and the rest is history.... Regarding "What is WA?". We have a 3-tiered system of Government (I suspect the US is likely similar to some degree), where there is a Federal Government, a State Government and a Local Government (in most places). Western Australia is a state, and has some autonomy to do whatever it likes independent of the Federal Government (the states aren't fully autonomous - obviously they rely on Federal Govt to distribute funding which sometimes comes with strings attached - but broadly speaking how the states run is up to the state Governments)

Brief explanation. The states came first (as colonies) and have their own governments, constitutions and laws. All states cut a 'federal size hole' in their constitution and created the federal government to be responsible for the specific things in this hole. So defense, most tax, creating standards, national healthcare funding, age care, indigenous affairs, declaring national parks, etc. The states hold power for local police, local education, local health service provisions, running national parks, etc. Therefore, the feds have zero authority outside of the stuff given to them by the state constitutions. To change this, all of the states would have to change their constitutions and then the whole of Australia would have to change the fed constitution. This actually works surprisingly well, except when it doesn't. Big stuff-ups are taxes and health as examples. The Federal government sets the standards, collects most of the money and holds the purse strings for health, but the state governments are responsible for actually delivering health services. There's a lot of finger pointing. But at least the health system works better then it does in the US.

"Why does this lady seem like she is being dubbed?" Lady is actually being dubbed. There is a good video on how JuiceMedia makes their videos - they released it at the end of the year, I think 2021 but it might have been the end of 202. You should look it up.
