It seems that most European homes - and those of many other countries - are under 1000 square feet in size. I was shocked because I think we all know how newer homes in the USA, Canada, Australia, etc tend to be huge nowadays (like 2000-3000 square feet on average). I lived in a small apartment with my parents growing up, and then my dad bought a small home around 900 ft² where my husband, kids, and I now live with my mom (my dad passed away several years ago). You definitely learn how to decorate, organize, and cooperate for the size of home and family. You get used to it especially if you grow up that way. Way too many kids grow up in huge homes, but some will never afford the same size of home their parents had. Most people do live in so-called smaller homes and apartments. I mean, it really is the norm rather than what we see on Instagram and KZbin. It can definitely be cozy and comfy. There's definitely nothing wrong with it.

I just read the book How to Keep House While Drowning and it helped me feel so much better about managing chores! It’s written specifically with neurodivergent people or people with mental health struggles, and so a lot of the tips are super achievable. Just thought I’d throw it out there for anyone who related hard core to the first bit!

This was so cathartic to how I feel ALL THE TIME as a full time working parent with a house that needs so much done and to do and never feeling like I'm ever on top of it and finish all the projects I want to do. The beginning was such a shock in a good way to all the perfect home tours that just make me feel like when am I ever going to have our place at that level as an overachiever, so thank you for that realness and still being open to showing it. It weirdly gave me so much peace and I love the style and authenticity.

Thank you for sharing this! I dont think we see enough "real" or "realistic" homes shared by social media and it sets the standards impossibly high so I really appreciated seeing a home that feels lived in and not forcably perfect. Your home is perfect for you and thats what matters! LOVE YA

Have never identified more with a house tour in the history of house tours. The combination of care put into the space, along with all the little projects you still want to do, and things that are in flux of not sure where they're going yet........ all of the yes.

I just love this house. I think it's very trendy right now to have newly renovated, newly built, hotel-like interiors and it feels very sterile and impersonal to me. I love how lived in this looks. It's obviously a house put together and collected throughout the twists and turns of life. This is the kind of home inspiration I've been looking for. The vinjett around the mirror in the livingroom is to die for!

As a Mom who feels the exact same way as you, I really really appreciate that intro. I’ve been actively decluttering my house since the beginning of the year and I still feel like I’ve gotten nowhere. It’s so hard when grandparents keep bringing stuff for the kids, kids keep bringing stuff in or need new things, the to-dos and want to dos are just impossible to get to. That overwhelm can be so much. I’m also loving this comment section! We aren’t alone!

Thank you so much for your opening clip Bekah. It may have seemed stupid at the moment but clearly many of us relate to those feelings. My anxiety gets so unbearable some days when I am cleaning up all day, I often try to blame my significant other, my child, for the messes “they make” and I’m like “Why can’t people just pick up after themselves” when not everyone wants to live like I do, with this constant need and anxiety to want everything to be picked up immediately. It’s not a sustainable way for me to live and I’m trying really hard to get better at managing it.

Ugh me too. 🥺 it can be so hard. I get so frustrated that my fiance doesn't immediately clean up things. But it's me that's the problem. I expect there to be nothing ever out of place. Like literally If 2 objects are on the dresser that aren't suppose to be there it starts to make me spiral lol. I think letting go of perfectionism is such a journey but so needed for those of us who are wired that way. My environment doesn't need to be perfect for me to enjoy it and relax. That's what I try to tell myself. It's ok for our homes to be lived in!!! I try to remind myself that people aren't goin to remember me for how many objects were out of place in my home, but rather the quality of time and my energy towards them. It's such a work in progress but we can find ways to let go!

Love a good house tour! It's funny, when I think of my childhood I never think about if our house was messy or not. I never noticed either way. I think your kids are just happy to be in a household that is loving and nurturing. And you clearly give them opportunities to explore and be themselves and your house is a reflection of that. Keep it up mama!

Bekah, I’m crying with you. This is the MOST relatable thing ever. This is something that causes problems between my husband and I because I feel an unfair burden of having to do things that he can also do but doesn’t. Taking care of two toddlers, my oldest being 2, and trying to care for our home when I work full time during the week is so overwhelming. I often feel like I must be the worst wife because everything is always a mess. Thank you for being so honest. thank you so much for that very honest intro, I have definitely felt that way before. I do wanna comment here and let you know that we were all not meant to actually live our lives so independently and feeling as if we have to have everything together. When we think of housewives in the 50s and we think of how so many people seem to have it together then and how they seem to be bringing that trend back now, please remember that many people have and had domestic help. And that if you can afford it (it definitely is a luxury) but cleaning services organizational services are not new and can really make a difference in your life!

I constantly feel overwhelmed keeping up with the house, especially when I compare it to others... I have a 1200 square foot house and no closets at all downstairs, so while we have plenty of space for our family, we don't have extra space to stash junk away. I think so many of the "instagram houses" have entire pantry rooms for extra appliances and counter "clutter", playrooms for the kids mess, ;laundry rooms and mudrooms for all the unfolded baskets and boots and coats... All that stuff just lives in my living room and makes it look like a disaster to me. But it's real life. Thanks for sharing your home. It's wonderful.

I know ppl might freak out about this but I turned our formal dining room into the kids downstairs play room. It’s been so much easier to have a landing spot for toys downstairs. Sure on Thanksgiving and Christmas if we host we eat on fold out tables and tv trays but using that space EVERYDAY for a playroom works better for our family than using it a few times a year.

There are days where it feels like I don’t have one second to sit and just breathe until I hit that bed at night and by that time I’m just so exhausted. I have my breakdowns and then I just brush myself off and get on with the day. Its relieving to know I’m not the only one who feels this way sometimes.

So glad I saw this video because I was watching your tik tok in such awe of your beauty and yet also wondering how you do it all and how you do it all so perfectly, this video made me realize us moms are all dealing with the same things ❤ you are so inspiring with your vulnerability and authenticity. You’re not alone! I have the same feelings with so many things to do but also wanting to be creative and do different projects. Remember there is a time and a season for everything, right now you and me (I have a 3 year old and a 15 month old) are in a season of giving a lot of time to our kids physically so having everything in order is not a reality 😂❤️.

i have the same emotions you do, & im come to realize there is a HUGE learning curve to running a house & im not sure there will ever be a point where everything runs smoothly bc life is constantly changing but moving w the waves & accepting the motions is what helps me keep my sanity

Oh Bekah I am sending you hug. I feel this way in a daily basis. Please don’t feel like you are alone on this. As a mom we have a big heart and it makes us feel like we didn’t do enough but trust me just you being a mom is enough. You are an amazing person and mom. I hope you know that ❤️❤️❤️

Bekah thank you so much for being vulnerable with your home and how you feel about it. It's a struggle we all face but want to keep hidden. You're awesome and your home is wonderful!!

I 100% feel the same things you feel, especially in regards to your feelings of drowning in a never ending to-do list, and feeling like you can’t ever quite achieve that moment where EVERYTHING you want to be is aligned at once. I see you, and this feels like one of those moments where as women we struggle so much, but also we can rest assured that we will always have a sisterhood because of it. ❤ As far as your home, THIS looks like the home I grew up in, and I haven’t been able to say that in years while looking at people’s posts- with AD videos and Insta girlies with an enormous amount of money, I felt inadequate about having a normal looking home. Your house proves that a home can be stylish, beautiful, tasteful, and fun, without Instagram perfection.
