lol, yea taemin was supposed to be the leader, but he said he didnt want it. Which is understandable, because he had always been a maknae in his group (shinee). 4:42 that's Taeyong. He's NCT 127's leader. He's been a part of many NCT U projects. NCT has a bit of a difficult concept to explain. There are 21 official members but are broken into different subunits. The only fixed ones are WayV and NCT 127. NCT U members change as the concept does and NCT DREAM is where the younger line debut and learn the ropes of performing and being an idol. Basically Dream members "graduate" out into other subunits as they reach the Korean age of 20 (internationally 19). I'm writing this off the top of my head so some things may be incorrect and I may have missed some things.

It's obvious you've never reacted to either SHINee or Taemin before...lol. What you have to understand about Taemin is that he has dual personalities. On stage, Taemin is a BEAST! This man can fill the Tokyo Dome as a soloist (and has) several times over. He is a HUGE deal in Japan and South America, as well as Korea. On stage he is a focused, sexy, dangerous dancing/singing machine. He breaks all the rules of Kpop, and SM just lets him be because he is too huge to mess with. Off-stage Taemin is a completely different animal -- think kitten, cute and cuddly. He has magic hands that can break things instantly for no reason, forgets things like his passport, luggage, etc., all the time, smiling constantly, terrified of bugs, serial pants ripper, and very gentle and kind. Basically, he's just a squishy marshmallow. Taemin attended an open audition at the age of 12 and was immediately snatched up by SM for his dancing alone. He debuted at 14 in 2008 as the main dancer. As the SHINee maknae, his other members have babied him (like Jungkook of BTS) and basically spoiled him rotten. You can see this in his cute, but "savage", interactions with them. Since his other members are currently in the military, Taemin is all alone and carrying the torch for SHINee. We shawols are happy to see him with another group because Taemin is always happier with friends around him. "i'm not sure there's any other big boy bands under sm" almost every group and solo artist under sm left his mark on kpop tvxq and super junior were basically the first huge korean boygroups outside korea, tvxq is still, after 17 years the biggest non-japanese group in japan and have the biggest tours, shinee were hugely respected in korea for being well-rounded and for releasing quality music, exo revitalised the music industry after its slump in physical sales, kpop is so much more than the groups that are popular today the kpop that people know today with it's fandom culture and it's quirks was majorly shaped this way by SM entertainment (whether or not some of today's kpop stans like it or not) not to mention SNSD which is probably the girl group with the biggest impact in korea's entertainment industry, still the only girl group that sold more than boy groups during their prime time
