The first verse and the choruses have Mathilda Mann harmonizing with Tae. 2nd verse is Tae harmonizing with himself. About the song, Tae wrote it and produce it. And the song broke lots of records on charts worldwide and on Itunes. About the meaning, the girl in the show confesses her love to the guy but he's not in love with her (in the song it translates by - he missed the opened window, and asks if the door is open or if it's gone forever - 1st verse) But eventually he realizes that she has grown to be more than a friend to him, and he begins to feel love (how could I know one day I'll wake up feeling more .. - chorus) And well yes he feels that she's too good for him because he has a very complicated life... I will not go deeper because I don't wanna spoil the drama, but I hope you get it. About ships in the night, ships in the night cross eachother path in the dark, they bring light to eachother (because ships in the night have lights) for a short moment before disappearing in the night again and never crossing eachother paths again. So him saying he already reached the shore = missed opportunity

I totally understand what u hv told in the beginning cuz i also thought that way when i first hear the song, But at the end i got this feeling. Kim taehyung is a singer who is able to tell u a story on a book as if it was an originally a song. This song also kinda looks like a story, but when he reads it, it becomes a lullaby. I felt it that way. The richness of the musicality of his voice is just out of this world.

Isn't this something that most people if not all can relate? You see this person whom you really would like to know, and you probably meet that same person a 2nd time when paths crossed, but who is to know that may be the last time your paths crossed each other. I think the lyrics "we were ships in the night" is referring to the fact that they were never on the same page. Just coming snd going doing thier own things. And then when he says " How could I know one day I'd wake up feeling more, but I had already reached the shore" is meaning he finally realized he cared for her more than a friend but its too late to tell her how he feels, or it's not the right time to so he keeps it in.
