This album is my favourite from him, maybe my overall favourite kpop album. I think that Jonghyun really stretches and plays around with his voice and abilities, his control is impeccable, and he adds sooo much character into every song with his choices and tone (and I just adore his voice). He can do literally anything with it and it really drives his music. The production in the album is really fun, there's so many interesting features and layers. How he plays with the vocal layers (especially in like aurora or orbit) makes the songs feel so full and pretty, and they're so well balanced and mixed in like another instrument. Jonghyun's solo work makes me feel he really understood and had fun with music in a way I never will be able to haha. The whole album is very Jjong and a little SHINee, and really well made💎👑Thanks for reacting! You caught so many little things that I hadn't, it was great fun to watch.

Seasoned music professionals can't help it but hear the range of universal beauties in K-pop vocal performances that transcend language divide, for example, I can hear Onew's mind-blowing vocal runs buried under hyper-compressed live concert videos, I can hear Key's irreverent vocalization choices, I can hear Minho's yet-to-peak musical leading star level power belting, I would never confuse Taemin's insanely soulful timbre, breath, vibrato as similar to Jonghyun's own unique vocality. While internet vocal gurus spout paint-by-numbers vocal judging criteria, seasoned professional performers just listen with whole bodies. Still, clickbaiters win on this platform, honest, sincere, high quality analysis is a rare commodity that you continue to offer. But I also want to add: as a non-musician, your listening depth, your attention span, your cultivated sensitivity, your innate feel for vocal soul - ESPECIALLY SHINee members' individual expressions, that trait of yours, makes you a true "holistic" pop vocal music reviewer. Rare species these days, super rare, even those working for Billboard. Don't ever stop being you. Just saying. Cheers!

The main problem with a single listen to Jonghyun is there is SO MUCH going on in nearly every song. I still hear little extra musical flairs under the main melodies on a new listen. The layering is another aspect of his songwriting brilliance. And his ability to adopt such a wide variety of timbre in his voice is world class. It's what initially drew me to his music, and then made me fall in love with SHINee as a whole.

Fun fact: Jonghyun actually wrote Cocktail for Taemin's album (cocktail and already). Taemin's album finally released. Already was on it but not Cocktail. Because Taemin didn't think he could sing Cocktail live while also performing it (with dance). The song was too high and he thought it would beyond the range of his voice. He didn't include it in his own album because he thought Jonghyun would sing it better than him.

Jonghyun: "I wrote this song for Taemin. Taemin said that he liked 'Cocktail' and 'Alrea... Jonghyun: "I wrote this song for Taemin. Taemin said that he liked 'Cocktail' and 'Already". He took it. 'Already' was recorded but... in his album there was no 'Cocktail'." Taemin: 'Cocktail' is beyond the range of my voice. And I though that Jonghyun would do much better than me.
