Imo Aya is one of their most interesting and difficult MVs. The Arabian Nights set & main costumes and the outlandish characters they play and what it all has to do with a breakup song is pretty fascinating. There were knee-jerk accusations of cultural appropriation by people who didn't bother to analyze the Arabian Nights concept. Most were probably from haters looking for another reason to bash Mamamoo. I'll spare you from a long essay on the Aya MV but since you asked about Solar's unibrow I'll give you my take on it. She said it was inspired by Frida Kahlo but didn't explain what Frida Kahlo's unibrow has to do with her ghost character with the white dress and extremely long hair or why she stabs the bowl with the dagger at the end. Solar has a wild imagination but rarely explains her ideas. Here's how it works imo: 1) Each member finds a different way of removing herself from the relationship and destroying any lingering feelings for the lover they're dumping. 2) Frida Kahlo lived in physical pain due to an accident where her pelvis was impaled. Solar may also have been thinking of the emotional pain of her marriage & divorce with Diego Rivera. 3) Young female asian ghosts are thought to be haunted by feelings of lost love which trap them here and prevent them from moving on. 4) Solar combined Frida & ghost to dramatize her solution to getting over the lover. She ritualistically impales the bowl of her tears to exorcize her lingering feelings.

Wheein slayed this mv so hard, when I saw it the first time I really couldn’t get enough of her dark eye makeup. It’s sad when no one I see react to it actually relates. Cos she looked so amazing. The black leather thing she had on with that dark makeup too omg. She slayed that whole look. People are usually there for hwasa solar and moonbyul tho. But most are there for hwasas sass and solar sexiness and then moonbyuls rapping so it’s never really about them which is sad. I really hope wheein doesn’t leave Mamamoo because it really wouldn’t be the same without her for me. Since she’s not in the same company I don’t know how long she’ll stay with them.

I have always liked Aya but it was only two weeks after Dingga, which is my favorite Mamamoo song, and so it had way less impact. These days I find myself listening to Aya a lot and I wish they could have released it last summer instead of in the fall. I also wish I could convey how controversial Aya was when it was released because of the instrumental chorus and the switch up at the end. It was the closest thing I've seen to a fan war within a fandom!

for the eyebrows on solar for me I thought it was inspired by Frida Kahlo , the Mexican painter, she had a very difficult life and she usually paints her self and she used to have that eyebrows, She is known for painting about her experience of chronic pain, often feature her self with root imagery, with roots growing out of her body to tie her to the ground reflecting in a positive sense the theme of personal growth; in a negative sense of being trapped in a particular place, time and situation; and in an ambiguous sense of how memories of the past influence the present for good and bad .

I just can't with Aya MV. They are so gorgeous and charismatic. Wheein looks like a goddess with that warm light and that beautiful architecture behind her, and Solar is so pretty and her breathy voice at the start of the song paired with her feisty visuals is so iconic, Hwasa is deadly with her long wavy dark hair and red clothing and Moonbyul in the long dark clothes, with a bow and arrow and low voice is just 🤯 A lesbian dream come true

Actually, Solar asked the makeup stylist for that painted monobrown; I can't remember very well exactly what she said, but in Solarsido's vlog, she said that she wanted to represent a very very natural beauty, something like traditional image...
