he symbolism in this MV is crazy - Wendy in the corridor with Seulgi looking through the keyhole representing the lives that were trapped in the ferry - Seulgi walking out of the corridor and being parralel with the water because the ferry tipped before sinking - the ladder joy is on with the water below her - the tea because students said they were eating soup and noticed the soup was tilted - the unknowing of which way is up vs down - the way the girls are sitting around a table with one another because the survivors said the last thing they did before the panic was eating lunch with their friends - the lights turning off as seulgi walks back into the corridor and the most poignant symbolism is regarding yeri 1. the cover of the velvet album has yeri's face blurred because she was the same age as the students in the sewol ferry disaster 2. yeri being in a boat lying down 3. the boat being filled with water as yeri seems to be asleep most of the people on the ferry were school aged kids the same age as yeri and i think the use of yeri to display the disaster makes it even more emotional repost of a comment in the actual video which I think is very interesting

The mv is speculated to be about the Ferry tradegy, where there were 443 passengers on a ship to visit Jeju island, 325 which were students on a school feild trip. The ship unfortunately started to sink, as it was, the students were told to stay put, the ones that followed the order drowned, the ones that didn’t survived. Only 172 survived. After the incident the president got impeached.

Meaning of the MV: The theme of the song is "Shi Yue Hao(South Korea Ferry) Ship Wreck", F(X)'s Red Light is also about the ship. On the album cover Yeri's face is blurred because she was the same age as the victims of the incident. In the MV, Yeri is lying down on the boat representing a student who was sleeping and when she woke up it was too late because everything was filled with water, so she ended up drowning. There a lot of scenes of water in the MV, every member had an escaping option, like Joy climbing ladder, Seulgi opening a window and water going inside Irene's room, and also Wendy crawling under a table. There parts were Seulgi keeps peeking out at a Keyhole, this is because she can't get out from her room and she's watching the ship sink slowly through it. All the members end up dying except for Joy who represents the students that didn't follow orders and escaped. As you can see in the forest secenes Seulgi, Irene, Wendy and Yeri are all wearing white since they passed away and Joy is wearing black, like the students who later on had to attend their friends funerals. And finally, in the album cover everyone is wearing a hood and a candle, they're commemorating the incident. This was a comment in the original MV to give you some context.

They say the meaning of the MV is about two lovers on the 7th July (korean folktale), but i think leans more to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. I think Yeri in the boat sinking symbolises the students that were told to stay put but they eventually drowned (Yeri was the same age at the time as most of the students on the ferry)

In the lyrics “It’s okay if I see you in my dreams” “kkumsogirado gwaenchanheunikka” “gwaenchanheunikka” is another way to say it’s okay” gwaencha = okay “kkumsogirado” “see you in my dreams/even in my dreams” kkum = dreams Korean is has a different writing structure than in English. So lyrics to songs and even when speaking is different than the English lyrics. It’s kind of like japanese, where you have to read it backwards.

What's amazing about this release is that they made a comeback during spring with a ballad song! (usually girl groups tend to promote in a more upbeat/cutesy songs for spring) Seulgi once mentioned that they were really worried about how people are going to react with their title track. Compared to their other title tracks up till now, OOTN went out of top 100 on Melon the fastest. The members confidence especially Joy's plummeted during this comeback. They went on a longest 'hiatus' period post OOTN pre Russian Roulette where they only made public appearance during some universities festivals and really really minimal TV appearance. Post OOTN was really a bittersweet memories for Reveluv 🙏

If u know the story behind it u can really catch up with it. Sewol tragedy is very sensitive for Korean. There's many students trapped there, and it's hurt many families. It goes like they ain't deserved it, they deserves future. And the theory of tragedy is keep much pain. So Korean really appreciate it, bcs this song just like representated their feeling. And sometimes it's gone trend when the date is pointed to the day of tragedy.
