They are brother and sister musicians. The older brother Chanhyuk is in charge of composing, writing lyrics, producing, sub-vocal and rapping, while the younger sister Suhyun is the main vocalist.

They are artists. Not idols. You're right. They don't have to do modeling,hard cherograpgy and don't have to go on hard diets. But..... They sing live...

Yes, being a duet is easier than being an idol group... But, they have done the idol thing too (doing choreography and they started on a music competition, those have a super hectic schedule.) In any case, the only reason why AKMU has been able to have a different image/life ste now, it's because they write their own music. I don't think they would have as much creative fredon and a saying on their careers if it wasn't because Chanhyuk writes almost every single song and also because Suhyun is such a charismatic person who makes friends with everyone she works with (on her radio show and entertainment.) They also had good boundaries, refusing to sign an exploitative contract.

I really love Lee Suhyun's voice! I learned about her from the program "Sea of Hope", her duets with Onew and solo performances were my favorite and as a person she made a very good impression. She is one of those who can do everything.))) About the comparison with idols. Yes, I think it’s easier for them, because at least they don’t have to prove that they are not just beautiful dolls that follow the company’s commands like robots.

They had hard time too as an artist, sometimes even more severe than idol. People tend to give harsh comments about their visual and their style, even chanhyuk's personal character. There's people (even from their own agency) who suggest them to do plastic surgery. Thanks to their strong will and believes, they didn't do that, still choose to being their self. Now, they became the Character. The AKMU that has very distinctive color. The one and only Akdong Musician. All that fame and achievements belongs to AKMU themselves.

@@maralmahmoudi4185 every AKMU fans know, how people mocking Suhyun for being ugly, calling Chanhyuk for have G-Dragon Disease, know who asked them to do plastic surgery. Only nowadays they have better condition. People opinion tend to shift their opinion, that's it's good for being herself, praise Suhyun for keep confidence about her looks, laugh at Chanhyuk unique characters. They became an icon as AKMU, talented musicians with very strong digital point, who only produce 'Trust and Listen' music.

Suhyun got so much hate especially for her looks. So being a non-idol doesn't help. And btw not long ago I saw a ranking of k pop female vocalists were Suhyun got a place in the 30s somewhere a couple of places above Rose.

It's not easy too for them being singer... If u know nothing... Dont judge anything... They have so much struggle to be famous singer in korean .. especially so much diss them for their look... U dont know how high beauty standar for korean... Its same for idol or duo or solo... all korean artists must be beautiful to be loved is the principle of korea netizen... So if you don't know their history of being famous don't judge anything

2:59 it's actually harder, career wise. They write and produce their own songs, never really depend on visual stuff, not getting help from lot of bots to buzz their music. No one can buy or forge pure music talent, their taste in music, their musicallity (the core to do a good collaboration singing).
