Dinosaur was inspired by nightmares Chanhyuk, the brother ,had when he was young. When they were young their family was in serious debt and were hounded by creditors. At one point I believe creditors broke into their home in the middle of the night, and I believe that is part of this song along with other childhood difficulties.

Actually the Dinosaur refers debt collectors acting behalf of the creditors. Dinosaur is apparently a Korean slang term for a particularly loud, threatening and aggressive debt collector, so this song is based on the memory of these loud, aggressive and threatening debt collectors visiting their childhood home at night and demanding payment of debts from their parents, whilst they they were in their bedroom, which must have been a very frightening thing for children to experience when you think about it.

The storyline of Re-bye: The video starts off by introducing the audience to Su-hyun as the personal assistant of Lee Sung-kyung, who appears to be some kind of celebrity singer-actress. Meanwhile, Chan-hyuk (the brother) features as one of the back-up dancers. As the video progresses, it appears that the pair of siblings are wannabe stars who are jealous of Lee Sung-kyung’s popularity and plot to kill her through various schemes including a falling chandelier and real bullet in place of a blank during a performance. The audience soon realizes, however, that the siblings are not who they appear to be. As Chan-hyuk raises his gun in sync with the other actors, he abruptly switches his aim towards a sneaky-looking back-up dancer and as he fires his blank, she shrieks and crouches down. It is then revealed that this female dancer had been the one trying to murder Lee Sung-kyung, while Su-hyun and Chan-hyuk are, in fact, detectives who were tasked to find the perpetrator. Ohh, if you're going to react to Melted in the future let me give a kind of context before you watch it: The song is about how cold people are, and it plays with the word "adult" and "ice" that sound very similar in Korean, so the lyrics goes like "If the ice melts A warmer song would have come out But why is the ice so cold? Why is it so cold? Why are they so cold?" so they mean "why are adults so cold? why are they so cold?" and the music video is also about a cold world

Chanhyuk is in charge of writing the songs, he is kind of a genius (honestly both of them). Also Dinosaur has a deeper meaning: "The dinosaurs are a metaphor for 채무자, or debt collectors who used to trash their house in order to instill fear", basically it tells a story of their childhood and how Chanhyuk had bad dreams because of these debt collectors.

If you haven't caught yet, the brother, Chanhyuk is and always has been their songwriter and producer, including their 2012 debut album when they were still teens (17 and 14?). This was a stipulation they made when signing, I believe. And no, they don't have any overarching storyline to be mindful of. The "dinosaur" in Dinosaur is generally interpreted as a metaphor for the loan sharks that would visit their house when they were young. Big and foreboding but as kids, they don't understand what's going on. There aren't many stages of DInosaur fyi since it's hard on Suhyun's voice. The Re-Bye mv is a detective story, yes. The title is actually something of an easter egg. R E bye, when spoken in a Korean accent, sounds like "alibi." Chanhyuk came back from his stint in the military about a year ago, and that's when they released their most recent "Sailing" album. Any tour stages you can find of it are worth watching. The title track "How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love" has a gorgeous mv as well. If you want to see what they were like at debut, look for "200%." *EDIT: almost forgot 200% has a sequel called "Give Love."*

Oh yes finally! AKMU! They originally called themselves Akdong Musician. After they won the competition, they combined the Nam to AKMU. The brother is the one behind all their songs while the sister helped. And he always keep her sister's vocals in mind while writing the songs as he said she is better singer than him. They were brought up in Mongolia due to their parents' work. They mentioned their songs are influenced by their experiences there. They're self taught and their parents are from music scene too. I really love the sister's vocal agility. Sweet and light. Beautiful voice.

Re-bye: The lyrics talked about how just because you say bad things about me doesn't mean I need to say bad things back to you. That just creates a fog of hate towards me and you that is very unnecessary. It's better to climb up through your own actions and strength basically. The MV showed how the backup girl was trying to kill the female lead (putting a real bullet in the gun, burning the rope, putting drugs on her drink) and the siblings were undercover detectives that tried to stop it and find out the culprit (taking out the real bullet from the gun and aiming the bulletless gun at the girl [who thought there was a real bullet in it that's why she ducked], figuring out who burned the rope, dropping the drugged drink).

I ran as fast as I could when I saw you reacting to these babies! Love them so much! They are both so talented! ❤️ In Re-bye there is a plot twist in the end where they show you that one of the dancers was trying to sabotage the main singer and the duo was investigating/protecting her. In the end, the brother finds out the envious dancer exchanged the bullet from the prop gun to a real one, so the main lady would be shot in the scene for real. Then the brother exchanges the bullet for a fake one and aims the gun at the dancer during the show. She freaks out because she thinks she will be shot and screams, which prooves she knew about the exchange and was guilty of the crime. Dinossaur, as people told you, was his childhood take on the debt collectors that harassed their family when they were kids. They couldn’t understand what was happening but they were scared and had nightmares that inspired this song. They are even better live and are two cuties. And yes, they really have their own sound, props to the genius brother! Hear “Melted”, “200%” and “Different” (this one is a colab between the sister and another girl, Lee Hi, they called the duo Hi Suhyun). Btw, Jisoo from BlackPink shows up at this music video, while she still was a trainee. You won’t regret it! Re bye 🖐🏻

AKMU is one of the huge sibling duo group in Korea. Many foreign people usually come up with BTS or Blackpink when they listen to K-POP but AKMU is also the same popular group in Korea as well. Yes the brother does all the songwriting! :) they are both completely self taught and won at k-pop star contest when they were young. their song "don't cross your legs" captured the hearts of judges and viewers from the very start :) They grew up in Mongolia and were home schooled there. And were just singing and writing music by themselves. there is information that dinosaur is about the creditors that chased their family when they were young. Re-Bye is mostly about saying bye. The music video was about how a lady is performing something and the siblings are going around there doing stuff. Then he fires and the culprit girl gets scared because she was the one who changed the bullets into real ones. the brother Chan Hyuk in his blue suit is a reference to detective conan anime. So in the end they were detectives that were trying to prevent a murder and that all was just them being in disguise as well as the song :) So the music video i believe is separate from the lyrics. YES YES YES! FINALLY!!!!! OH MY GOD THANK YOU! They are probably my favorite duet group. They harmonize and compromise so well together. Please react to their song Melted! Dinasoaur has a sad meaning behind the song. The siblings didn't come from an easy background so when they are talking about "Dinosaurs" they are about debt collectors that would come and terrorize their family. For re-bye, to explain the situation, its a musical and one of the actresses has been trying to sabotage the main actress and AKMU were undercover detectives. When Chanhyuk (the brother) was pointing the gun to the main actress (as written in the musical), he then directed his gun to the side actress. Since the side actress had previously put a real bullet in the gun, she tried to dodge it but Chanhyuk already took out the bullet, they were just confirming if it was her by checking if she would dodge the bullet. In the beginning, Suhyun "accidentally" dropped the glass of water but she knew it was poisoned by the side actress.

the reason they don’t have that many songs is bc chanhyuk (the brother) enlisted from 2017-2019, but they did have a comeback last year with sailing and that was a gorgeous album i loved it- you should check it out, the tt is more of a ballad but it’s still amazing! and yes, chanhyuk does produce their songs :D

I knew you would like these 2! They're very interesting artist and truly have their own distinct sound and style. Chanhyuk, the brother, produces all their stuff and even wrote Alien for his sister. They are famous for turning really simple, every day things into interesting song concepts. The song they sang that got them onto the audition program is called Don't Cross Your Legs if that gives you an idea of their quirkier concepts, lol. He really always thinks outside the box. Though, because a lot of it plays on the Korean language and culture, it doesn't always translate super well. The only MVs they have that have a continuous story line are their debut MVs- 200% and Give Love. Their most recent album, Sailing, is easily in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. It's ridiculously good.

They both make the music together but the brother does most of it. Its different everytime but they do make the initial melody and lyrics together. The brother sits and plays with the guitar and the sister improvises the melody. You can see a clip of them on a show called "knowing brothers" where the cast randomly gave them books and asked them to sing the contents and it was just BEAUTIFUL lmao.

I just discovered your channel and I love your reaction of Akmu. You were right, they call their music “healing music”, so in a certain way it is their own genre. Also, the first MV that you watched didn’t have eng subs but the lyrics are so deep. “How people move” is an ode to human body. The brother Chanhyuk wrote the lyrics and melody of all their songs, but he didn't quite arrange them. The sister Suhyun does not compose, but she really got a good voice (and he too). Please check out their newest (but it was already one year ago lol) group song called "How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love". It's a ballad and it's also composed by the brother. The sister Suhyun really knows how to express sad emotions, and their harmonies are so good.

whenever I brought up AKMU to Koreans (when I lived in Korea) everyone always mentions the song writing and how unique it is especially for Korea. Sometimes they say its because they lived in Mongolia and the way they were raised. i can't say 100% that's the reason he writes that way, but I do think that Suhyun and Chanhyuk are an unmatched pair. People sometimes fail to recognize the talent that chanhyuk has as well (since his sister's voice is just.. wow). But, he is only 24 yet has consistently written and produced amazing music for YEARS. not to mention, he not only wrote an album during his military service but an ENTIRE novel that he published once released from service. AKMU debuted back in 2014 after winning first place on a competition singing show (somewhat like American idol) called KPOP Star. Chanhyuk was only 16 and Suhyun 13 when they won! really amazing duo man.

Give Love and 200% are related MVs, what is different is that Give Love is a calming song while 200% is their debut, which is also more of catchy song. You should try listening to "Melted", It's a darker song, but I just love the story it tells. One of the things I love most about AKMU is their freshness as you said, they really just have their own thing going on that's uniquely them. Also, their storylines, as well as their lyrics, are just really good. I would also recommend listening to "200%" and "Give love" in that order because their stories connect. They're both upbeat, quirky songs that are fun to listen to, also the MVs are really fun to watch too! 😆😆😆

I think they also made me think a bit of Disney when they started off. Especially if you hear their songs 200% and I Love You. But it was fitting with their age (they were still underage!). What I like is the duality because they do something cute and whimsical like Re-bye one second and then something deep and meaningful like Dinosaur or Melted (which I really really recommend for your next reaction, by the way!!! - with the lyrics)

In the re-bye music video they are working backstage for the performance. During the performance someone is sabotaging and trying to kill the lead actress. You are supposed to initially think it is the AKMU members, but when Chanhyuk (the brother) aims the gun at one of the dancers she ducks. Why would she duck? Well, earlier we saw Chanhyuk messing around with the gun, when he did that he found that someone had put a real bullet in the gun. Only someone who put the bullet there would think that Chanhyuk was actually about to shoot her. Then it shows that the same woman also sabotaged the chandelier and tried to poison the actress water, but since Suhyun (the sister) saw this she purposefully dropped the water when she gave it to the actress at the beginning of the video. Then it is revealed that Chanhyuk and Suhyun are working as detectives and they have found their culprit.

Yessss AKMU! I love them and their sound is so comforting, idk how else to say it. I really think you'd like the collab between Lee Suhyun and Lee hi, their voices together are just perfection. They only did one song called i'm different and they recently performed it live on the show begin again. I would also recommend lee hi if you like AKMU. I think you'd like her songs HOLO, 1234 (live from begin again, in the mv she was like 16 so her voice has really matured since then. the lee hi focused one has eng subs:) ) , ROSE ( live from begin again, the mv was also when she was like 16 and her voice has really changed since then). The brother is mainly the one that writes and produces their music and is a really great rapper. The sister has a really awesome and unique voice! The brother just recently came back from military service so lets see what comes next from them!

Suhyun is an amazing vocalist. You should check out (maybe on your free time) the channel called Begin Again Korea where several talented musicians and singers have live concerts in front of small audience. She's a part of that group. They sing so well you gonna love it.

Prior to becoming an Insomnia, there were exactly two kpop albums I had in their entirety. The first was Pink Tape by f(x) and the Second is Play by AKMU. It's their debut album and it's honestly flawless.

After that they joined YG.. and their biggest request was this: to keep their artistic freedom, keep writing their own music etc.. they were super popular so they had good leverage! hehe YG agreed and they joined and ever since then, they keep coming out with their own original sound :)

The lyrics of HOW PEOPLE MOVE are just my fav in absolure, you'll find the genius of Chanyuk (brother) 's mind. They lyrics are about the most simply things yet it's the most creative I've seen in kpop since awhile.
