Ahh, I feel like I have so much to say about Never Forever, so please bear with me :) First I wanna say it’s one of my favorite songs from Want album, for me it was an instant YES. I’m a sucker for an acoustic guitar and I just love love love his vocals here - especially the adlibs. This brings me to Taemin’s vocals, which are often undermined (especially by fans of other “soloists”) but the truth is he has amazing diversity and plasticity in his voice, he can do so much with the interpretation of every song, it’s really mind blowing and so satisfying. I truly love Taemin’s voice and when it comes to his stylistic choices as a vocalist I think he’s immaculate. Now, the song itself. I just truly love the flow of it - how it walks in a steady pace, not too fast, not too slow, just moves ahead. Somehow it makes so much sense combined with the lyrics - he sings about constant change, that there’s nothing given to us forever, that everything eventually changes, fades away… It’s a very bittersweet song, nostalgic… He said it’s very difficult to sing, because of its mid tempo and complicated adlibs and he was right, it is difficult. But when he sang it live it was so perfect. I still remember his performance from T1001101 in Yokohama, he sounded amazing and the ending transition straight into Day And Night was just a genius idea! Ahhh, I miss Taemin so much. Only 20 days left :)
