We know what this song means to Taemin. Many people may think that he is like the character he plays when he is on stage, but we know the sweet, tender and sensitive person he is, a person who really worries too much and feels a lot. I admired him so much. OMG! this song hits hard 🥺

I really loved Under My Skin when it first came out, it was actually my first Taemin’s comeback and I listened to it A LOT trying to stream as much as I could to help with the views. But to be honest I couldn’t, because the song felt so intimate and special it wasn’t just something you “brainlessly” stream for the sake of streaming - it was and still is something I deeply feel and savor when I’m in the mood for deep emotional experience. So until today I don’t listen to it as much as I listen to other Taemin’s songs, but when I do I really appreciate how sad, powerful yet comforting it is. This performance and the song itself is very emotional. Taemin cried on this concert, venting his bottled up emotions which were still there and still very strong and painful after Jonghyun’s passing… He personally wanted the song to be the title track of his album - TAEMIN. He could have picked other, more cheerful song, but he decided on Under My Skin, cause it was like a testament of his pain and feelings of lost and guilt after losing his closest friend… I really admire Taemin for being so honest and wanting to share these personal emotions with Shawols and whole world. I hope it helped him heal and move on with his life despite of what happened and how hard it must have been for him… Thank you for your honest reaction Aaron.

"Under My Skin" is another one of Taemin's Japanese singles. His Japanese songs, in particular, often have very powerful and deep lyrics, and most of his songs have metaphorical meanings and messages. It's always worth looking up the lyrics to Taemin's songs because you are almost guaranteed that there is a lot more going on with the song than you see on the surface. For example, Taemin is a devout Catholic and you will often see biblical references and imagery in his songs and MVs, and there is almost always a spiritual undertone to everything he does. SHINee debuted in 2011 in Japan and Taemin had his solo Japanese debut in 2016. Taemin and SHINee are very famous in Japan and they have just as many songs and albums in Japanese as they do in Korean. They are so famous as Japanese artists that they are considered part of the mainstream Japanese music scene and most Japanese people don't even consider SHINee or Taemin foreign artists. It's been more than 9 years since SHINee's Japanese debut That is why all the members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese. Both SHINee and Taemin spend about 50% of their career in Japan promoting and holding concerts. SHINee has 6 Japanese albums and Taemin has at least 3 Japanese albums, plus dozens of Japanese singles, etc. They are so famous as Japanese artist that Japanese interviewers even travel to Korea to interview them. That is why, if you ever watch any of Taemin's or SHINee's Japanese concert performances you will see that the concert is almost entirely in Japanese, including the parts where they interact with the audience and their dancers. They don't even need translators.When Kpop artists hold concerts in Japan most of the time their backup dancers and staff are all Japanese, as well.

this song means so much to him and shawols. 2018 was a dark place for most of us. we only had each other. you can see the emotions behind him whenever he performs it. taemin wrote the lyrics/message he wanted to convey for this song in korean and the lyricist translated beautifully into japanese for the final lyrics!
