Goetia realised his mistake at the end when Ritsuka said he was fighting to live. Goetia wanted to go back in time to erase the concept of death from the world, it was both to prepare the arrival of the foreign god and his own personal belief on how humanity should be saved. He thought humanity was weak because people would eventually die but when a normal human with little to no experience led the charge to undo humanity's destruction, he couldn't help but be curious as to what was driving him. His shock to him saying "To live" threw him for a loop, he expected some grand reason but underestimated the human drive to live. Funny.

Then literally everyone else with the magical DNA that allows them to do his job dies, so it's either he does the thing, or humanity's entire existance, including his own, gets uno reverse'd. So yes, "I'm no hero, I'm doing this because I DON'T WANNA DIE DAMMIT!" Is actually a valid motivation (also, you're correct, this IS a fanservice animation. The reason we only got two of the singularities? They literally did a poll for the players asking which singularities would they most like to see animated, and those two won. These are 100% made for the enjoyment of players of the game without much regard for non-players. They also recently did another poll for the arc 2 chapters aaaaaand it certainly wasn't episode 1 of the arc!)

I knew people who criticized the movie because they had the Endgame portal scene. In actuality, and I did tell them this, the portal scene in the Solomon singularity PREDATES Endgame. The game describes that portals showed up with every servant from all the singularities you went to, and started kicking ass. This is why the singularity itself is presented as a raid battle (and poor KR server). To qualify for the Beast class, they must love humanity to the point where they harm humanity (Tiamat is a great example. She, as a mother, unconditionally loved humanity but at same time, hated them for betraying her) as a form of "protection". It's a very twisted form of love, but it's there. Goetia is the same. In later chapters of the Lostbelt, there was an asshole of a servant who tried to turn himself into a Beast, but failed as he didn't love humanity.

This singularity probably had some of the best writing in the entire game. It shows how two characters who had the exact same perspective, the exact same function, the exact same tools, Goetia and Solomon, ended up being completely different. Solomon, the tool of God and Humanity, who, despite being human, never had a chance to become an individual, to truly become a human. A man who only ever did what was requested of him, and only ever lived as a tool; a man who, until he was asked to make a wish, thought he had none. Until he realized that his only wish was to become human, to cease to be the king of mages, so that he could experience the world as an individual. So he could experience the very world he forged and shifted in his life, as one of the people who lived beneath him. Yet, the moment his wish was granted, his status as a mere tool returned, as he had a final vision of humanity's end. Dedicating his life to that cause, in order to save it, Solomon became Roman. This character, defined as "true neutral", due to never having the chance to truly develop a personality, acquired morals, explored philosophy, became a doctor, made friends. He worked his ass off saving humanity, but this time, he no longer was an inhuman tool. Goetia, who upon seeing the suffering of humanity, only grew more mad and mad, harboring deep hatred for his humanity. A being that, in essence, only wished for salvation, for the creation of a new genesis, for a world free of garbage like this one. Was he really even wrong in the first place? Was he not justified for being mad? And that's when one of my favorite lines in the game comes from. Upon confronting Goetia, in the game, Solomon speaks to him, and tells him: "I did not have time to get mad." Such a simple exchange, that somehow... perfectly defines the difference between these two characters. Solomon and Goetia, who should have been two sides of the same coin, yet ended up so vastly different. And then Goetia's parting line. A line that wasn't even in the visual novel part of the game, but literally at the end of the battle. "It truly was... a splendid life." A being created by someone who never experienced life, forced to observe the meaningless lives of every single human, admits that he had fun. That he enjoyed his life, and that his final battle was not a desperate attempt to score victory, but a move made out of frustration. Yes, a simple action made out of hate, which defines Goetia as a... human being. It's such a pity that the movies/series, while certainly not bad, completely butcher Roman's character, and in extension, Goetia's and Solomon's. The scenes with Mash were also definitely much more impactful, as in the game, she actually feels like a character and not a merch advertisement with *some* emotions. And let's not even start with poor fou who basically doesn't get shit in this movie. I'm so disappointed with how they treated his character. But enough rumbling. Good vid.

I would really recommend downloading FGO and playing through the story of Part 1 in order to understand and truly enjoy this film. I first saw Babylonia before playing the game and while being really good, I didn't get to truly connect with the characters. After playing through the game you really get to understand why they're there and what their personal objectives are. The FGO shows and movies are enjoyed much more when you have played through the story in game, you get to spend more time with them and really get to know them better. Solomon especially benefits from this, it's a culmination of everything that you ,the player, have experienced throughout the game. It's literally the Endgame of Fate GO, where everything feels much more impact full and emotional when you've experienced everything. Every growing pain, every heartfelt scene, every scene that hyped you up and got you mad. All of it in the solomon movie hits way harder if you've played the game. If you've watched the shows then you'll only care about a small portion of the whole cast from each singularity. If you do chose to play the game to experience the story and not to simply review it, then please, after you've played through the entirety of part 1 go back and rewatch the shows and movies. Not to compare and contrast but to relive the experience from the game but now in anime format. I guarantee you that you'll have a much better experienced for them, especially Solomon. If you do, then you'll understand the feeling that every FGO player had when all the servants appeared on screen in the Solomon movie. It really wasn't supposed to make sense, it's was all a result of your efforts throughout your journey to save humanity. That scene was to FGO and Fate fans what the Avengers Assemble scene was to MCU and Marvel fans. It's a feeling that is almost impossible to replicate and experience very often.

I'd say is way more powerful for Fate fans, if only for the format. With the MCU, you watched those characters suffer, fight and grow to be better and stronger, and that's awesome. But with FGO, you fought with those servants, raised them, ascended them, met them on a more personal level and defeated so many difficult battles. You didn't spend a lot of hours (maybe a few weeks on total) watching movies, but months playing the game and getting involved in the Grand Order. That's why I think the feel is more powerful, even if I loved the MCU movies.

As to why Ritsuka didn't panic... I mean, this is the same guy that goes along with the most ridiculous shit that gets thrown his way, and someone who also works well with people who ranges from saints to world ending calamities given form. It does feel in character that he didn't panic at all.

Also, Mashu's character arc is not nearly over (I am looking at YOU freak!) Also, Goetia obliterating the earth has one more purpose (And this would be bullshit one too, but the more of a good kind of bullshit). Ok< so Lostbelts will be a very bumpy road. Buckle. Moreover, the Final Singularity came several years before Endgame with about similar plot points

I'm actually not yet we have one more story part 2 Cosmos in the Lostbelt ( a lot more of a darker story but it's freaking of something that's have more interesting story that hasn't been meditated in movie form or at least show wise yet) although at the time they would this recording it's not finished yet ( we are getting lostbelt 7 but it isn't going to be the end yet) oh and by the way it is confirm we are getting up our 3 at some point there are also some bonus content like the Grand Carnival and learning with manga are pretty fine watches by the way

You're right. Goetia is actually more interesting when you get into why he did this whole thing as the game goes into more details about his motivations through out both part 1 and 2, yeah his story still isn't over yet. Without spoiling too much, basically one of the characters questioned "why did Goetia choose to end humanity in this exact time instead of any other era where Chaldea did not exist?" and it turned out he was just protecting humanity in his own twisted way, after all one of the main conditions to become a Beast is to have love for humanitu.

Beasts' love for humanity isn't just any loved it's their own twisted point of view of loving humanity. Goetia didn't loved humanity, he just pity them and goes "it couldn't be help then since you are all hopeless, I'll help you." in a condescending way. To him, humanity was just a bug under his heels but that turn around when Chaldea and Gudao reduced him to a mere mortal and he then understood what's it like to be human. It's not just any loved for humanity and it isn't a helpful loved, their loved for humanity is something that will spell the doom of humanity
