Thanks for the review Per, for the price (+/- 70,00 USD) is a chance to many people to get something similar to the CX12 (200,00) for less than the half of price; regarding the sound I think this applies to almost all Easttop cheap lines, I have the same impression. Probably is the reed material+tuning+gap. Brass reeds have a warmer sound I think. I also had the same sensation on other ET models regarding the high reeds. They'll need a little adjust, but you know, it's very difficult to adjust properly those last reeds if you don't have experience with reeds adjustment. If it's too much, it won't work due to air loss and if it's too tight, it'll lock the reed. Seems that CX12 Jazz has a better sound than CX12 due to the mouthpiece + adjusts. But as you said, for the price it may be a budget alternative to some part of the world (where I'm included).

It's a CX12 copy. Plain and simple. Not saying its a bad thing. Or a good thing. When you copy something you want it to have some differences, to protect yourself from copyright related legal issues - and so there are subtle changes. It's a CX12 made on a tighter budget.

Fascinating - as I'm considering one of these devices! It was just disconcerting to see your video flipped horizontaly - as shown by the manufacturers names being 'back-to-front'!

I'd like to see one of the makers come out with a 16 Hole version.

That would be great!

Interesting. Would be cool to see an EQ graph on the sound. I have my idea on the difference, but need to check.

I wonder how hard it would be to transition from the diatonic to this type of chromatic harmonica. I might get a forerunner 2 to start out with. I like that they can play all the scales in any key, (if I am understanding this correctly).
@woelneberg10 ай бұрын
It's a transition. You have to do the grind and put in the hours for each key.

I have played diatonic for 50 yrs. I bought my 1st chromatic. Easttop Forrunner 2.0. Three months later the slide button came off, the 4 th note blowing in is out of key. The slide is noisy. The little plastic round bumpers inside came off. What a waste of money.

@@lennyblue4uI am sorry to hear that. In the end it's a budget harmonica and while some will last, others might not.

Very nice video. The Hohner sounds a little better.

I have the CX 12 from new, and learning fast. I like it very much, but it sounds quite "foggy" and not as easy to blow or draw a clear note on hole 2 (all the rest are fine). I don't know if this is normal or if it's a fault. What can I do to clear/improve this. I'd appreciate anyone's advice. Thank you.
@woelneberg9 ай бұрын
Before I make any advice can you tell me how much experience you have playing harmonica? Most issues beginners face are due to technique more than fault of the equipment. It's a hard Message, but most likely the solution is more practice.
@maxwellfan559 ай бұрын
@@woelneberg Yes, I'm new to the harmonica, but I'm a seasoned pro musician in other instruments and know a lot about the technical side of instruments, but not the harmonica. It could be partly technique but I don't have the same problem with the diatonic Special 20 I have. The notes on this are sounding all just fine and clear. If there's something I could adjust on the reed, or whatever, I'd like to try to fix it. Thanks for your message, appreciate. After all these years I never quite realised what a rewarding instrument a good harmonica could be in so many ways.
