I would only really allow that for indoor wars, not just for the safety of animals around parks, but what it might do in large capacity to some mowers and other equipment for the grounds keepers at the park's

The bounce is ridiculous, drac almost shot himself a few times and he was just testing it. With these, I don't need to shoot directly at you, just at the wall next to you, that will then bounce to the wall behind you, then into you from the side or back. Your gonna have balls bouncing everywhere causing arguments. I got shot by a bounce, am I out or not? I can just shoot the ceiling and have rubber rain coming down on you. Stick with foam please.

Sad but true. Nerf just don't seem to get that we want accuracy and not just range. If this has no hop-up then adding one might improve accuracy. Just a tiny blob of plastic putty in the right place, that could be removed again if it doesn't work.

It's the ammo that concerns me the most - Rival is hard enough to keep track of, but now we practically have bouncy balls going at 120 FPS? It'll be interesting to see if the ability to hold more rounds is worth the trouble of switching to a new ball ammo type.

For something that uses denser ammo, and has high FPS, I'd be interested in an "ouch" test i.e. firing at a live target at a set distance to determine the discomfort level upon impact.

I have a modded hyper Mach 100 that uses li-ion batteries and when I crank the voltage up to 12v at around 5 feet from my friends back it left welts and he said it hurt a little less than a cheap airsoft gun.

Thank you so much drac for addressing the environmental concerns of the ammo. It's something it feels like a lot of people are either glossing over or not really thinking about. I think this ammo will really shine in indoor arenas but I can't see many groups allowing it outdoors.

I am, like you, slightly concerned about the environmental/pet issue, I don't think it was really taken into consideration that they look like yummy berries and bounce all over the place. I'd really love to see an in-depth analysis of the ammo, with weight/momentum/energy testing and proper accuracy testing and also a video where you open it and see what's inside. I personally wouldn't allow this at any outdoor events if I was an organizer..this would be an indoor arena only blaster for the amount of bounce and just how small those things are..they aren't gonna be cheap and even if a knockoff version is made, it's still gonna be made of a similar material and just as small..that right there is a recipe for animals to choke on them or just have a lot of little rubber balls getting into streams and sewers and clogging everything up.

I'm not involved with or participate in any foam events so take my opinion as you'd like, but given the size of the Hyper rounds and how easy they will be to be lost, I can't in good conscious say that they should be allowed in an outdoor setting. Can't wait to mod that for short darts. Aesthetics and colors are fantastic, the ammo is questionable. When you start to get so small, you're entering airsoft territory, which is something you only do in restricted fields, or with biodegradeable ammo that you never have to worry about.

Honestly speaking as a HvZ player and college game runner I really was curious about hyper, especially given the high capacity. But seeing how hyper functions I really don't see it being viable environmentally or financially to the common college student. Even the local wars in parks we have had people walk through with their dogs it's just something that cannot happen.

Hey Drac, I appreciate the honest review! The pet safety and environmental concerns are huge open questions about the new ammo, but that's also outside the scope of what any one nerfer can answer with backyard science. But if you ever do an in-depth review of hyper ammo itself, I have some questions you might be able to tackle. How well does it fluoresce under UV light, and would a blacklight flashlight be useful for ammo recovery? Are the rounds large enough that the nut getherers the community uses for rival rounds will still work? How well would 3d printed muzzles with hop-up tabs improve performance? Just some thoughts as our community figures out what kind of place Hyper has in our hobby.

Its so painfully obvious that Hasbro is just trying to make money out of ammo, they're inaccurate and go everywhere, plus they're extremely small so your prone to losing at least 1 or 2 balls per every use, not to mention they're making the ammo packs cost a fortune when future blaster will probably have capacities around the hundreds, but at least it isn't elite 2 or ultra, *yet*

I would imagine that the knurling is acting as a hop up tab, but since the ammo can move around slightly in the barrel, it hits the knurling in a different place each time. Maybe if that was removed it would be more accurate.
