I actually believe the UK doesn't have a gift tax. America does but I think the UK only has an inheritance tax, so as long as JJ didn't die within 7 years of the gift it should be tax free

He would only be paying tax if jj dies between now and 7 years thats using (PETs) but if he doesnt the gift becomes fully exempt from IHT. He could also make a betting contract and license it by state so it would be considered as a "bet" but this might give jj extra expences. also i dont realy know how it works with family but you can gift your spouse 10 of milions of pounds and it would be tax free so you could do a lot to avoid taxes and with the money that jj has he could easily consult a Tax Advisor. (PETs are also treated by HMRC as exempt at the time of transfer, meaning that no IHT will be payable at that point ie; during the donor’s own lifetime.)

Randolph is right by the way. There is no limit on how much money you can gift someone and you do not have to pay tax on any money that is gifted to you. You only ever have to pay tax on any income you make from that money. The only rule with this is that it cannot affect your standing of living. As in it cannot affect the standing of living for the person who is giving away the money not the person recieving the money.
