2:22 Shrek is probably their universe's equivalent of the Bible. Orcs regularly sing "All Star" in church as a song of worship.
@battleupsaber462
@battleupsaber462 6 жыл бұрын
The Stalwart Scrub Well, Orcs are very nuanced and layered characters, and as we all know ogres are also made of layers (like onions). There's nothing in the Bright lore to confirm this, but since Will Smith compares orcs to ogres it's safe to assume that they are at least somewhat similar. Hence, ogres=orcs. Just another example of the amazing worldbuilding in Bright.

It occurs to me that Bright's concept is basically a grittier and more violent version of Pixar's Onward, and they both even have a centaur cop. Except Onward's world building was more fleshed out
@halfdemonprince
@halfdemonprince 6 жыл бұрын
Bright's concept would've worked better as a tv series rather than a movie. A world where mythological creatures evolved beside humans has so much potential for world building and interesting stories. If executed properly, "Bright" could've been the next "True Blood." I would've loved to see how orcs and fairies were effected during the Jim Crow era. How did dragons effect skyscrapers and aircrafts being invented? Plus how, despite all these super-powered creatures, did humans maintain their role as the dominant species?

One thing to remember when reading reviews: don't let bad ones ruin a film for if you enjoyed it. If it makes you notice some stuff, it's good because it'll make you appreciate films that do it well. That said, I found it Bright very disappointing. They had the actors and the setting and did nothing with it. It could've been just normal, real life LA and nothing would've changed. And the whole discrimination angle, how does it affect the story? It was structure like 45 minutes of "Look, Orcs are oppressed" and then 1 hour of "Chase the Magic Wand" and had no impact on each other.

candiigurl7893 Apparently. If this film wanted to tackle racial politics, be it directly or as an allegory, that's fine. The setting of the film looks pretty interesting. bones22j fun fact the directors for Shawshank Redemption originally wanted Tom Hanks for the role of Andrew Dufrain but he turned it down due to how he had already committed to filming Forrest Gump.

There'd be nothing to do with School of Rock. Make fun/go after Jack Black for basically playing himself? Make fun of kids who are trying their best? The entire concept is silly on its face and the movie embraces it, it's incredibly hard to satirize satire.

I think that a movie explaining the events leading up to Bright would have been a better movie than the Bright movie itself. This movie had potential, but it was not done as well as it could have been. I wish it would have been done more like Zootopia combined with a modern day take on the Elder Scrolls lore showing all the different people (Elves, Orcs, Argonians, Khajiit, etc.) and how they interact.

They should have grabbed the ShadowRun licence. Forget about the 2000 years of the races living together and having the return of Magic a recent thing. that we avoid the mess of having history happening the same way while we have literal magic going around
