The Riker maneuver existed because Jonathon Frakes had back problems, so he straddled the chair so it was easier for him. It's also why he would often put his foot on something and lean on his knee.

Data constantly had Riker's crotch hiked up next to his console. Riker leaning there is even pivotal to the climax of the time loop episode (that had Kelsey Grammer)

Poor Worf. He’s supposed to be this great warrior, so the writers often used him as a shortcut to show that an enemy was a serious threat that couldn’t just be overpowered with might(if this alien defeats Worf so easily, none of us have a chance). Unfortunately they did it so often that it just seems like Worf is always getting his ass handed to him by everyone. They also had a habit of always ignoring his advice for dealing with a situation, so it seems like everyone ignores his ideas(even in episodes where the whole plot/problem of the episode could have been avoided if they’d taken his advice at the start of the episode). There’s some hilarious supercuts of it on KZbin. At least his character got treated a bit better when he came over to Deep space 9.

Palm punches are actually pretty smart. Less chance of breaking a bone than hitting with a close fist, so you can actually hit harder without padding.

Mark 6:50. No! In, Taekwondo, we say, "Palm Strike". William Shatner, back in the day, had made it to, Brown Belt, while in "Star Trek". So that probably influenced what was done from then on. Side Note! In "Batman", Burt Ward, was in Karate, at about the same time, at about the same level if I recall right. After "The Green Hornet & Kato", guest starred in the show, Burt, would be asked if either he or his character, could win against, Bruce Lee. Sometimes he got asked if, "Batman & Robin", could take on, "Kirk & Spock". By the way, "Kato", was played by, Bruce Lee. 👍😎 Thanks for the fun video! 😊

The reason why Picard was always adjusting his uniform was because they were so tight, that when the guys sat down they would ride way up in all kinds of places.

10:32: kinda like how Law and Order SVU hired so many Oz actors and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited has a bunch of actors from Joss Whedon shows.

I loved Gargoyles. What had me hooked was the line by Riker when his assistant said (paraphrasing) It may be difficult to find local help, many around here are superstitious. He replies, Owen, don't you know the saying "Pay a man enough and he will walk barefoot into Hell".

Sounds like it's time for a TNG rewatch...Although DS9 is my favorite Trek... Gargoyles rules... at least until it went to ABC and became a race metaphor... Gargoyles taught me Shakespeare.

@Kaefer19737 жыл бұрын
I'd disagree, while DS9 was the best series overall to my tastes, I preferred Picard (and Probably Janeway)as a Captain. I certainly prefer Sisko over Janeway as a character though, it's just that his commanding style doesn't seem as "captain like" as do these of Picard and Janeway. Not sure about Kirk, I mostly remember him as a campy action hero, forgot his actual commanding style. Sam Becket was okay, but not all that memorable either.

Kaefer1973 - I'd say Kirk is the better Captain in the movies, but Picard gets ahead of him in the TV series.
