Great advice, buddy! Budgeting and being patient are my 2 biggest advices.

As someone in his late-20s, this video helped me big time. Because I want my Physical Media collecting to be an enjoyable ride. Lately, it was starting to dwindle. And I want the hobby to still be fun, rather than poisonous. So, this video truly came in handy.

Great advice. Been through much of this myself in my own collecting. Now that I'm in my 30s too, the focus is on actually wanting to own the films in my collection. A lot of things I buy now, unless I really love it, it's likely to be moved on at some point in the future. Cheers for the video

Great stuff. FOMO is very real. I kind of force myself to keep something in the cart for a few days to reflect on if I actually want it.

That FOMO is the backbone of boutique labels. 🤣

I've never collected anything I didn't want to rewatch. If I get a movie I don't like, I sell it. I don't need to hang on to something so it just collects dust. I only upgrade films that I really love. I don't have too may 4k's. I have paid too much for films that end up getting a new release but that's just part of collecting for me. My biggest problem is that if I want something, I need it now. It's really hard for me to wait. Collecting is really fun for me.

i have this same approach to my collection and i have the same issue lol. i don’t have too many films, but i consider every one a gem.

I agree that the best advice is that you don’t need everything. I’ve been collecting starting with DVD at the end of the 90s, and I thought I needed to buy everything. Years ago, I was in Best Buy on New Release Tuesday picking up a steelbook of Suicide Squad… a movie I saw in theaters and HATED. I had a BS sense of completionism. I had buyer’s remorse knowing I’d never want to watch that terrible movie again. That was when my outlook changed. I slimmed down my collection to movies that are important to me, and I’ve been way happier with my collecting since.

I feel for the SteelBook crowd, it's cool to have a bunch of them, they look really nice, but damn, do they get squeezed by these companies.
@dustinstoudt52912 ай бұрын
@@HunterBoldingVideoI’ve even dramatically decreased my steelbook purchases. Again, I have to really like the movie and know I’ll revisit it multiple times. Great video, man! I’ll hit subscribe 👍🏻

Really great video and points! I love physical media but it can get out of hand and FOMO is real with some releases. I'm going through my collection with some very serious considerations as to which ones to keep and which ones to sell.

It’s getting to that point where I’ll just do a clean out every year.
@RichardDiaz12 күн бұрын
@@HunterBoldingVideo That is a great idea! I should do the same. Pick a time of year to go through everything and clean house a bit.

I like going to pawn shops and antique shops in my area to find things. I was able to find some decent films including Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator on Criterion Collection bluray for $3 - still sealed!

What a find! I've been trying to look at some in my area, but they're all pretty barren right now.
@Gnumanfan1012 ай бұрын
@@HunterBoldingVideo Keep on it! I know here in Western NC, a lot of the films are pretty common. But once in a while there's a classic or a rare item that pops up.

those limited boxsets look nice but it's the movie itself I am interested in and i could buy 2-3 movies for the same price
@ashtonrogers51482 ай бұрын
That’s fair, but when you get a film you love and see a special edition of it, there is something so nice about owing it.

Tip from old man nearly not quite 50 Buy what you love and want to keep (Star Wars 1-6 VHS DVD & BluRays) What the far left will be trying to ban Blazing saddles, Tropic Thunder & then what you'd like your kids/Grandkids to see Untouched Dumbo Snow White.. then take Joy Ride buy what youd like to see BUT then know you'll not get 10% back when selling it on
@krikon5752 ай бұрын
Sound advice? Yes, most definitely but if you are in your 20ies you are not ready for that knowledge and you will not listen. You have to go through the "i want it all" phase to realize you don't need it all.
@HunterBoldingVideo2 ай бұрын
Boy, once you get out of that phase and you're just getting the stuff you really want, it's freeing as hell though.
@krikon5752 ай бұрын
