something I do is pick two outfits the night before and only let my daughter choose from those two. Sometimes asking a child too many questions at once, makes them more anxious. You will get through this, soon she will be old enough to do more things for herself. Big hugs

I was gonna say this. Though it still doesn’t always work, I ask 3 times then I make the choice. Get him dressed and if he hates it I validate his feelings and explain why I’m having to help him do it (time restraints ect)
@jillianwatson6469
@jillianwatson6469 Жыл бұрын
@@KatieGraceHealthFitness exactly, giving them an option and if they still don't comply you make the choice for them with explanation and validation. Otherwise they're going to continue this behavior to get their way.

Giving two options or swapping out something for something else has always worked perfect for me and my son! Always give them more than one option but not too many
@laurab1105
@laurab1105 Жыл бұрын
@@jillianwatson6469 She has already said she does the two option method and even if that doesn't work she will try and dress a plush toy in a chosen outfit to encourage arrow to get dressed but these don't always work with arrow and sadly wasn't working this day. It was just a day where her toddler didn't want to get dressed and unfortunately you can't force clothes on a child when they can immediately just take them off lmao.

We NEED more of this. People don’t see the bad days and ugly sides of motherhood in vlogs, so they think they don’t happen to others. It’s really hard to compare yourself to other people’s highlights in vlogs.

Definitely normal toddler-ness. Two tips: For getting dressed on particularly rough days I'll act totally normal and put undies on my kids heads, and socks on their ears (sometimes mine too) then continue getting ready to go until the giggle so much and tell me I did it wrong. I act totally caught off gaurd a d have them show me how to do it right. My oldest is 4 and my youngest is almost 2. Also, on super challenging mornings sometimes we "rewind" and start over. I explain I'm frustrated. We walk backwards to our "starting" point to get giggles going then try again. So far that trick has worked 100%of the time.

Hi Brittany, I've been following your channel for a while now, and I never write comments, but just wanted to let you know, I love you content. It's harder than the newborn stage in my opinion haha

Thank you so much for being so honest! I had a such a tough week with my 2 year old last week and felt everything you mentioned in your vlog! Being a mom is the greatest privilege in the world but it’s very very hard at times. A lot of the times moms on KZbin don’t share the tough moments and it can be so unrealistic and frustrating to watch. Thank you for sharing your tough moments and making relatable content . You are not alone girl 👏🏻 you are doing great❤

Watching this because mom guilt is keeping me from getting to sleep right now. The frustration over a simple task that we couldn’t get done because of toddler emotions. And to have a fight with my partner over it on top of that. Parent life is seriously hard! Lying in bed whispering I’m sorry to my toddler… Crying over your video because it’s so understandable. And reassuring to see that this is indeed normal parent life. We rock 🥺🥹

Yes! The overwhelming emotions are for real. As a toddler mum your life gets really tough. There are some moments when giving away positive energy to bring up a kid is hard because you have none left ( in that moment) although a kid is a ray of sunshine who imparts positive energy to you, you’re an adult who has her own set of things and needs, which do get compromised. That being said, motherhood is divine and magical.

I love the whole “It’s important to take a minute to yourself. A couple hours every couple days to recoup, reset, and refresh your mind. I don’t want to be judged for feeling like it can be stressful to be a parent sometimes. A lot of what we see on the internet in the lens of motherhood is all the amazing parts of it, which there are amazing parts. But nobody talks about the hard days. Nobody talks about how there’s difficult days. I’m honored to be a mother and I wouldn’t change it for the world. You can still absolutely love, cherish, and honor something and still feel overwhelmed, frustrated, stressed, and sometimes sad. Without it totally blacking out all the good. A lot of the mom guilt comes from having to balance things like work/life while also feeling like you aren’t totally in control of your toddler. As a parent you’re “in charge” but - a toddler is learning all these emotions and how to express themselves so in a way- they are in control because you’re helping them learn how to navigate all this and sometimes toddlers have a difficult time with simple things and as a parent you have to be there for your them.” Literally saved that to my notes to get me through hard times lol you’re the best

Wow I really needed this. I am a 24 year old single mom to a 3 year old boy with autism. The days are alwayssss so hard and overwhelming for me. I spend a lot of time comparing myself to other moms on social media because they only show the good parts and not the difficult parts and because most of them don’t have a child with a disability. But I feel so much relief watching this video and reading the comments that all moms feel this way whether their child is disabled or not, motherhood is hard. Thank you for sharing this. 🤍😭

Sometimes if my child is having a rough day, I choose the outfit and my child picks out some fun socks! There are variety packs with animals, characters, etc. Also phrasing things like, "You can put your t-shirt on by yourself, or Mama can help you put your shirt on. Do you want to do it yourself, or should Mama help you?," instead of "Do you want to put your shirt on?" Can help a lot! And of course some days are just rough no matter what ♥️ You are doing amazing and being authentic!

I cry out of frustration more than I'd like to admit. My daughter is 2. And she is amazing I love her more than anything. But my boyfriend and I moved to a completely different city where we have no family or friends. So there is no in person support system if I feel like I need help. Even if there was I'm not the type to take it and I'll work around everything to stay with my daughter or take her with me 🤡. My patience has days where it just dissapears and I feel terrible for it but I know I'm doing the best I can. This video helped me feel a lot better and a lot less alone. I feel you 100% wanting to be there for my daughter especially when she is going through something while I have to do loads of other work/life tasks can get very overwhelming. Btw at bed time I also dress her in the next days outfit, something comfy that we can leave the house with if we need to leave early. Sometimes kids are in an odd period about cloths etc and this kinda saves the panic and chaos for me in the mornings. It is not very often but it is a solution for us. Generally either I pick something for her or offer her 2 options. Sometimes she doesn’t like anything and will ask for other options. Sometimes she doesn’t care at all what I dress her in 😊 you never know how it is gonna go. There are times I also use cartoons to change nappies and get dressed when I need some calm and quick changes before going out. Sure I don’t want that to be a habit but sometimes you just have to find a solution and nothing is perfect. Real life is messy. That’s what I have learned through this journey ❤

I am fully on board with communicating with children and trying to talk through most issues. But some mornings....I'm holding that sucker down and putting his clothes on whether he likes it or not. I've already tried to use the phrase "non-negotiable" with my kids. Plenty of things don't fall into this category, but things like being clothed (rather than naked) when going outside and holding my hand to cross the street are non negotiable. I don't care how much you scream and cry, these things are getting done.

Thanks for always being so real. I feel like when I'm pouring from an empty cup my days with my toddler are SO much harder to get through. I'm currently learning how to do things to fill my cup so I can have more patience and give myself grace. You're such a light in this world 🌞

Totally get this! I had one of those mornings with my son. Luckily super Nana (grandma) took him for the day while I worked from home. Sometimes we just need that little break to recollect ourselves and continue to be the best moms we can be ❤️

THANK YOU so much for creating this video!!! I have a toddler who is one month younger than Arrow and let me just say that this past weekend was such a roller coaster of emotions on our end. Watching your video, I was feeling all that mom guilt and anxiety seeping back in but it also felt good to see that i am definitely not alone. I sometimes feel like I am alone in this but your video came at the right time. Thank you so much for keeping it real and for sharing it with us !

My daughter is almost 4 now so in a little different stage but she still doesn’t like getting dressed or getting her hair done but we have been pretending the brush is Mrs. Brush and we give her a special voice, she gives our daughter hugs and kisses and it totally works. Mrs. Brush also has little convos with our daughter and she loves it. Now we have Mrs. Spray, Mr. Towel, Mrs. Car seat etc. It has been super helpful.

Toddlerhood is Rough! Just an idea... may or may not work. Maybe try to find matching outfits for Arrow and baby. She might like the idea of dressing her baby up and be more motivated to get dressed herself. Worth a shot anyway
