One thing that I rarely hear talked about when it comes to EDC guns is the fact that it’s going to be confiscated following a self-defense shooting. It should only be temporarily, but I’ve heard stories about it sometimes taking forever, and some where they never get it back. Just something to keep in mind before you drop too much money on a really expensive carry gun.
@oilyque

The biggest thing is having something reliable and that you are skilled with. Whether is budget friendly or not. When it comes to defending your life or family I bet the cost won't be an issue to you at the time. Even if you had a budget carry and an expensive fun gun once the budget one is gone you are on to the expensive one anyway.

I finally decided to bring my CZ 75d PCR into modern times. I had dropped the CGW internals in about 2 years ago. But just sent my slide off to Primary Machine for rmr with buis plate and front sight, burnt bronze cerakote, I have a stainless steel custom copper guide rod, a set of Vytal kraken custom color cased grips to match the burnt bronze, custom copper grip screws. Can’t wait to get everything and slap it back together. Carried it for 6 years but had switched to other pistols because I love red dots. Had thought about buying the cz shadow 2 compact but decided on this route instead. I’ve got around 9k rounds on my PCR with 0 malfunctions and prefer a decocker for appendix so I don’t decock myself in appendix carry. Another great video.

The Shield Plus 4” Performance Center has become my go-to and it made me part ways with my most of my other carry guns. The trigger is solid (not mind-blowing, but solid) and carrying it with the 15 round mag makes me feel pretty well-protected. The thinness of it makes the extra grip-length a non-issue with concealibility because it can’t stick out very far regardless. Planning on whittling my carry guns down to just that, the M&P 5”, and Glock 45.

Same for me and the G26. I have a bunch of other CCW guns, but I shoot the ol’ 26 best. The thicker grip with the extended 12-round Magpul mag allows me to draw and fire decidedly more accurately than my smaller guns. Unfortunately, it’s just a bit too large for concealment under a t-shirt from late spring to mid fall (for my body shape/size). But if I can only grab one, my 26 is it.

The G19 and G26 really are hard to argue against. The G19 being just small enough to conceal in most cases, and having great capacity... And the G26 being even easier to conceal and yet shooting very accurate for it's size. I really can't tell any difference in recoil with it versus the G17, and for a guy with very large hands, I shoot the G26 tighter. Both great carry options. It's one thing to have a smaller gun that conceals well, and another thing entirely to ALSO have a gun you feel confident actually fighting with it.

I swapped to the original 365 with 12 round mags over a year ago due to back issues and needing something small and light. Best thing I ever did. I shoot it well and can put it on in the morning and forget it’s there all day regardless if I’m in and out of my truck visiting clients and construction sites, stepping into meetings, or just sitting at my desk. It’s stupid comfortable. I also carry a second 12 round mag with MagGuts holding 14 rounds. That’s 27 rounds rounds on me at all times. Don’t see any reason to ever change.

There's a P365XL in our inventory, too. I want to like it better, but a) it's a little narrow for my meathook hands, and b) my wife commandeered it because of what we have, it's the one she can do best on administrative handling (i.e. racking the slide, field strip for cleaning, etc.). I'm quite fond of my P07--enough so that I have a P09 as a home defense piece. The DA/SA trigger is what got me less uncomfortable about carrying with a round in the chamber. Frankly, I find the CZ PCR even better for me. YMMV, of course!

I just got a new carry gun yesterday. I was fully expecting to walk out with a P365 but ended up going home with an FN Reflex MRD. Trigger out of the box felt better to me and the FDE color is just clean looking. Wasn’t able to see the M&P but may eventually get one of those as well since they are very economical.

@@direraven6277 I did. I wasn’t expecting to like it or even look at it but saw it and liked it as I’m a sucker for overpriced FN peanut butter. Felt the trigger and the grip angle and I was hooked. To me, it instantly felt better than the 365 and I’m coming from a g43 which I hate. Worst case scenario I have to go get a macro cuz the FN stinks but I just left the local indoor range and it ran fine through 200 rounds of fmj and 30 rounds of hst. Not much but so far so good.

I starter carrying the 43 because some mountain bike trails tell you to bring a friend.

For me it was the 43x and it's solely because I got bear paws for hands so that extra grip was so nice for me. If I had smaller hands I would probably went a different route though. But I think it's great we as consumers are so spoiled with EDC options now. Wasn't always like this. Even my more liberal family members are getting CCW permits and ask me for recommendations. I just take them to the store and have them hold and dry fire a bunch of guns and tell them to buy the one that feels the best in their hand.

If you like 43x, try CR920P; it outshoots 43X and 48 any day of the week. It's like a gucciest and comped G43. It comes with a 10 and a 13rd mag which should fit all hand sizes. I like 10 for concealability but you might prefer 13 for the grip. My friend who also got it put his P365XL up for sale after two range trips.

From MN here. I would skate before school. I’d be there before the water truck and sit in the snowbank in jeans, with thermals underneath, and listen to the water freeze. I would promise the driver I wouldn’t skate until it was set. Puck wouldn’t travel wet anyways I would tell him. We would sit at bus stops and watch our spit freeze on the side of buildings. Bus stops were near buildings usually to give us some wind cover if they could. When the bus stops were in the open we would build snowforts/dugouts for fun and to warm up in, took turns. Your breath keeps it warm if you do it right but animals would get in there at night and poop sometimes 😅. I moved away at 20, I’m 40 now. My nerves have acclimated to warmer weather, I went back in January a while back and when I went outside from the airport the cold literally took my breath away. 😂

I think we all want to see a glock 43/48 vs micro dagger, A detailed deep dive"nutnfancy style feature length review" Comparing material quality, build quality, finishing and fit and feel, That would be great as I see psa now as pretty much equal too the market leaders and probably higher, They have a huge budget and have been spending it like there's no tomorrow on all the highest quality milling machines and every other type of equipment, Also getting the best programers and designers, They have literally everything and it's the best stuff as well, Also base materials are highest quality and often better that others, Who else thinks that there not now considered by quite a few as a top tier manufacturer? If any of the gucci brands bought say the billet sabre line and jackel rifles and put there name on it and charged? $2500-$3000 would anyone say it totally overpriced or the quality is not good enough I don't think so.

I’m glad I live in Indiana where we can open carry, even though I don’t open carry. It allows people here to carry a full size pistol with high cap mags. I cant get on board with sub compact pistols. I just wear a shirt over my full size pistol at the 3 o’clock position like I did for 20 years as a LEO. It’s what I’m use to, so if it prints in a store no big deal, but I do try to keep it concealed. Every 3rd person seems to be carrying in IN, and nobody freaks out about it.

I also carry appendix but I got a glock48 so I put a striker control device on it for holstering purposes. I honestly feel that all striker fired guns designed for carry should come with a striker control device already installed in them. Majority of NDs are during the holstering process and this is such a cheap and simple fix to nearly guarantee you won’t have a ND when holstering.

I agree with you on not needing a dot for carry. You are most likely going to use it in a danger close situation, it's going to be point and shoot. I still have one on my 43x with a 7a light though, reason being it allows the 43x to also be my night stand gun if I don't feel like swapping out to the 45 when I get home. Also the 7a light gives me a stand off point so if someone was on top of me and I had to get it out and shoot, the light will hopefully keep their gut from pushing my slide out of battery!
