seeing Carrie sing On My Own but dressed as Fantine legitimately gave me chills. I started following her way back when. Literally, I think when she was JUST starting at the West End as Eponine when she still lived at home and had her fanart wall behind her. I am so proud of how far she's come. I am a Hopeful through and through. She is such a huge inspiration to me.

The I Dreamed A Dream/ On My Own duet was a specific arrangement made for the Proms at Hyde park. It's not how they sing it in the actual musical. It is a concert version, so they would not have sung it with the same amount of emotion they would do in the actual musical.

I think another reason why Carrie's I dreamed a dream isn't as emotive as Anne Hathaway's is because of where the song falls in the show versus in the movie. In the show she's just got fired from the factory and she's reminiscing about a boyfriend who left her and her child. In the movie they moved it to after she became a prostitute, lost her job, the man she loved left her and her child and she is realizing that she might die. So no wonder why it's more emotive in the film. I absolutely love the combination of the two songs, they also did this at the Les Mis 30th anniversary and it was breathtaking.

Georgina! I'm a current performer in musical theatre who worked with Carrie in the show 'The Christmasaurus' 2 and a bit years ago. I love your work, ESPECIALLY MUSICAL THEATRE MONDAYS and think you have such lovely energy on camera! I'm currently performing in Starlight Express and during the interval sometimes me and my cast mates watch your vids on my phone! The Musical Theatre community loves you! Stay amazing xxx

The last fantine/eponine one she recently explained the composer wanted it to be more rock style with the riffs for this concert specifically (it’s not how they normally performed the show) and they also had 6 minutes to get in costume and on stage from arriving at the venue on the motor bikes 😆 I’ve been following Carrie since 2012 with her covers in her bedroom at her parents house when she still hoped to some day play eponine. Amazing how far she’s come!

she mentioned in one of her recent videos that this mashup performance with 'on my own' is specifically for the west end live festival or something i think? and that they're asked to ramp up the riffing, more modern style and embrace the difference in genre! :)

the reason there are a lot more riffs and it’s more modern is because claude-michel schoenberg (?) wanted it to be more like a rock concert and more relatable! i personally LOVE IT hehe

Really like Musical Theatre Mondays, it's a nice contrast to the pop content. To get the musical theatre community views do some reactions to the classic performers, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Elaine Paige.. Or maybe pick performances by show, Phantom, Evita, Les Mis...

Having to be biased, but I really found it easier to sing "Pulled" in the key that Carrie sings it in, comparing to the American actresses doing Wednesday

I agree with you, to start with I thought the mesh of the songs was a clash and hard to listen to but towards the end it got better, two beautiful singers and together it's hard to listen to there separate voices. saw carrie when she was in les mis in like 2012or 2013 and she was incredible been following her for years. her voice is just incredible, it blows my mind when she sings high long belly notes. such a pure and talented soul.

Musical theatre singers are on the whole better singers than pop artists - in original keys, no riffing up and down ( pet hate of mine ).
@kookycat96632 жыл бұрын
Would it be too 'cruel' to do a video of several of the versions from the different performers over the years ? Not comparing the singers against each other or anything, but to compare how the arrangements etc have changed for each performance over time
@purpledawn27274 жыл бұрын
You should react to Sissel Kyrkjebø. She has a magnificent voice:) Edit: and while we're at norwegian singers, Jahn Teigen is a bit of a character. When he sings "normally" he sounds kind of plain, but when he really goes for it, everything changes and he doesn't really sound like the same dude anymore. Magnificent voice. I wonder how some people can do it, I mean just change their voice like that.

Does anyone else find this "honest vocal coach" really condensing. I'd love hear this vocal coach actually sing - becuase to me she's just another person who thinks she can.
@David-pt8ge4 жыл бұрын
It is a shame that she did not have a musical theatre training. It might have helped with her poor enunciation of words and she might be able to perform/ act at the same time, rather than what she does at the moment, sing and then act. She also does not seem to be in control of her arms and has this default of half folding her arms, which makes her look a bit sullen. Also, everything is sang in the same way, little variation in tone and emphasis throughout the song. But my pet peeve is that she approaches the notes from underneath, rather than straight on. I am sure this is just to do with her technical limitations, in that she has to muster all her strength to get to a note, like a car reeving up. The kids seem to like her though, but that cannot hie the fact that she is not that well known to the general public and ticket sell for Cinderella were woeful before they postponed it. Had it opened and unless it got raves, there is no way that show would have urvived.
@CaptainNemo924 жыл бұрын
She actually has good technique. The only thing that really bothers me is that through the middle of her range she is oftentimes a bit to heavy by maybe two percent. She definitely needs to work on that because it messes with the pitch. I agree totally with you on her acting. But it's never too late to get some training. Love her though.
@thecomplimentassassin34234 жыл бұрын
She actually can sing and act if you see her performance in heathers you can see that
@tootoolafroo3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree that she needs more training in terms of her acting. She can sing well and has improved a lot over the years, but damn the girl cannot act. I've seen her in a few live performances now and she's fairly hammy even when it isn't being filmed or something. I do sometimes wonder how she's got to where she is today with no professional theatre training, little to no dance training and only occasional professional singing lessons. She has been incredibly lucky I think, because most people with only sparse professional training similar to hers would never be looked at twice for a role.
@fairylen73853 жыл бұрын
Say what you will, but she has done exceptionally well in musical theatre, and has had back to back jobs in musicals for multiple years now, which is extremely impressive given the audition based nature of her job. I personally love her singing and acting, and look up to her, but you're entitled to your own opinion, just as I am.
