Great video, thanks for sharing! I went on a Honey Badger binge a while back and got all 3 colors in both small and medium sizes. Crazy smooth action. Love to see the steel upgrade, hopefully they’ll expand the D2 across the entire lineup. Thanks again. Cheers!!!

Hey Jay, Thanks for being on top of this new offering. I have a small and medium Honey Badger original version and really like them. Been putting it off but think I'll order a FH41 today. Hard to fault the Ganzo knives except for the soft screws. Keep the great reviews coming.
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
You bet Phil. Small and medium are two good sizes to own. I think the medium is probably my favorite Honey Badger. The 41 is a good purchase, I hope you like it. Thanks for watching.

Ganzo's are the budget Kings, contoured g10 vs plastic... ganzo keeps it's crown. But these Western actives are good competitors, I've got a hawkbill version in 8cr13. Now that it's in D2 I'll try one of these, I'm glad they did away with the finger choil, I've got 10 knives with them and I've never found myself actually using one.
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
Until Honey Badger (Ultratec) restructures their pricing I have to agree with you about Ganzo "keeping their crown". Thanks for watching Mt Baldwin.

Mine's (large tan) coming in the mail today! I've been waiting for someone to review this (glad you did!). I think this one will be a quick sell-out, must have. I was very close to getting the 8CR13MOV version, glad I held out. This looks like it pretty much nails most of what I look for in an EDC. I anticipate this could be the knife of the year.
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on all points Ninja, well said. On knife day do you look out the window for every car door you hear? Maybe it's just me, I'm nuts in that regard. Western Active/Ultratec should just light all those 8cr versions on fire since consumer interest will decline quickly. Now that I think about it, if they start selling them at a crazy low price, I would go buy a crap load of em. Thanks for watching.

@asphyxiate145 жыл бұрын
Agreed. $40-45 should be tops. Even that is a little high. I'm just adjusting the price to the lower end ones in 8cr that are around $35. But close to 60...no

Lovely knife. In general I prefer visible liners myself. I think they add some nice detail to a knife. Sadley it seems Ultratech knives can not be purchased in Europe.

I own 2 large Honey Badgers in Sandvic Steel and have no problem with that blade steel, I love these knives and as to deployment they are right up there with some of the best like Civivi for instance. My only complaint is why not expand your product line, it is kind of unusual to only have 1 model in your product all be it in 3 different sizes, you will not be disappointed with this brand and I believe they even give you a free shipping coupon for signing up or some discount, They sent me a 10% off discount for the D2 line a few weeks ago and have done so a few times, Give the a try. The large version with the Sandvick steel are only $35
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that Sandvik steel? I didn't know they had a Honey Badger with that steel. I agree with you about expanding their product line, something they really need to do. I did see that 15% off coupon, I think they send you the coupon once you register your previously purchased knife, which is a nice offer. Thanks for watching woptucci.
@jtucci57115 жыл бұрын
@@TheKnifeBeater My mistake and all this time I thought it was Sandvic, now you ruined it for me as I wish it was but in the big scheme of things for the price of this knife and its great performance I am still happy with the 8CR
@ShortcutReviews5 жыл бұрын
I also like that they removed the in-blade choil (you can always dremel it in). Agreed, at +$50 for D2 and FRN is a hard sell compared to the last set of Ganzos, and the Modus at $42. Great review as always. The red backspacer does pop nicely.
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
I think the removal of that forward choil might be a cost saving effort. I really hope they reevaluate their pricing structure. Thanks Chuck.
@ShortcutReviews5 жыл бұрын
That is great thinking, I very thought of them saving cost from the base version at the price, but like they say “always follow the money” when trying to determine cause. I like it, not $50 like, but I like it 😀

They're nice and of course, I love that they've offered a Lefty option. Unfortunately, I haven't found an Aussie dealer and the freight costs and conversion rates turn a cheap knife into a not-so-cheap knife. For example, I bought a Civivi Praxis from the States. In Australian Dollars, it ended up costing $105 with freight. But, I still consider that money well spent.
@TheKnifeBeater5 жыл бұрын
I know, that really stinks about the availability for you. The 8cr version of the Honey Badger didn't have a lefty option, so it's nice they made that change. Good that you got your hands on a Praxis though. Thanks for watching Brad.

The action and the finger choil made the first version. It's very disappointing that they'd ditch the choil which made the ergonomics something that made it stand out from their competition.

Funny you mention it Cark. While recording this video I had the Balance sitting to the side just out of the frame with the intention of using it during the comparison segment.
