Hi 👋, Josh! Maybe make a poop pit for the dogs. I mean I’m sure it helps you when you retrieve their land mines. Just a thought. I’m Andrew. What I meant is instead of a sandbox … it’s an area for the dogs to do stuff. Off limits to Theo and young ones. It also might be a good idea to get your dad’s advice on this deck you’re building. I think it’s good. But I also don’t know a thing about building that stuff. That’s impressive, Brit! I have a brown thumb sadly.

You pay for all the wood. A 1x 6 once it is squared and surfaced for use is 3/4" x 5 1/2" roughly. But it is convenient and easier to call it a 1 x 6. It may seem trivial for SPF (Spruce, Pine Fir) boards. But you get into the hardwoods and making furniture you can be talking hundreds of dollars between a rough piece of wood and a piece that is squared and surfaced for building a piece of furniture.

It used to be exactly 1"x 6" same with a "1x4" or 2x4. Now a 2x4 is 1½ x 3½

Nominal measurements as opposed to actual measurements of wood. 2x4 opposed to 1.5 x 3.5....measure twice cut once lol
