I gotta take a few minutes to let you know how much I appreciate this channel. I'm not much of a podcast guy, and I don't like many of the guitar/effects channels on KZbin either. I love your down to earth personality and laid back approach to demos. Channels like Pedals and Effects, That Pedal Show, and Eystchpi or whatever produce long, boring and irritating videos. While they are informative, I personally can't stand how hard they try to be amusing. A pair can be a good thing when there's good chemistry, but your channel is great to me because you have enough personality to carry a video on your own (no disrespect to the actual 60 Cycle Hum podcast!). Colin from CSGuitars and yourself inspire and motivate me, so thank you kindly

This fuzz rocks. I have a fuzz problem. I want all of the fuzzes. I have a Big Muff Op Amp, and this one, and they hit all the marks. There’s also the Joyo Splinter, if you’re into Rats, and its fuzzier tones are reminiscent of the Honey Pot. Or vice versa. The three create a very fluid palette of fuzzy wuzzy tones.

Always enjoy your videos! I find that fuzz is very sensitive to the volume pot of your guitar. I twiddle with the knob until my guitar and fuzz pedal gel. Usually my guitar is around 6-8 for optimal sounding tones and fuzz (sustain) set lower than most, 7. Then the dark goodness is revealed! And perfect amount of stripes!

@Big_Coil4 жыл бұрын
Per what I can hear in this demo, his amp is set clean and all the gain we hear is from the pedal. Even when the gain is at it's minimum on the pedal it's still fuzzy. I don't think you'd be able to use it as a clean boost. You should look for a boost pedal such as a TC Electronic Spark or a low gain pedal like an Ibanez Tube Screamer.

@@tastedawaste1367That isn’t a clean boost, it’s a gain boost, and even with the gain turned all the way down it still has a little fuzz. If it’s pushing a clean signal then there’s something wrong with the pedal.

I would like to bust the myth of blowing up your guitar speaker when plugging in a bass. When you stick it into a regular guitar amp, nothing strange will happen. You can only blow up your speaker when you hook a guitar speaker up to a bass amp head that has a high power rating like 2000W. That's when you might destroy your speaker, because regular "guitar speakers" can only handle about 100W, a large part of which might be a static voltage to which the output signal is added, but with an output transformer this shouldn't happen. Somewhat ironically, with a 1 Watt signal output, a 12" Celestion speaker already produces 100dB. 1 Watt on 8Ω means V^2 / R = V^2 / 8Ω = 1 Watt, so V = SQRT(8V^2) = 2.8V AC. The amplitude of the AC signal would be 2.8V * SQRT(2) = 4V. The Celestion speakers we tend to use were originally designed as bass speakers if I'm not mistaken and you would use a regular amphead to go along with those. Someone must have figured out, since mellow was the new thing, that it's also pretty cool to stick in a regular guitar into an amp like that. If you compare modern amps to for instance the Standel amps, that are actually still being produced but manually, after the power transformer mishap, you'll hear that the Standel amps the way we have gotten used to amps produce a lot of high end. Ironically, they quite frequently have 15" speakers. I think it's not due to the size, but how they are built. I think they have or had a metal center acting as a tweeter.

Apples to oranges I know, but which do you guys prefer, the rusty fuzz or the honey pot?
@Thruftinger5 жыл бұрын
I do like the honey pot more as I hear more clarity. To me it seems that they are both to be bought tho: - The Rusty Fuzz will be better at doing those lead tones, while the Honey Pot is rather made to do the combination of both, as well as chords as the whole lead thing
@kohlscunty4 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is old, but I love the honey pot and dont care for the rusty fuzz. Honey pot is like a raunchier version of the green russian. Its wooly and warm but it has grit and texture. To me the rusty fuzz just sounds like one of those older fuzzes that just sounds kind of unpleasant. And not in a heavy way or a cool and unique way. Just kind of buzzy and annoying.
