Me neither, the shaker will always be the best. Just taking the time to learn your ratios and having measuring tools with a good shaker and the know how is a simple, precise artform. You can make one a heck of alot faster with less complexity and a fraction of the price so you can instead invest in good alcohols. I don't care much for this, and until we can have androids that can do it exactly like you want every time with little to no failure and be a charming robot bartender at the same time I don't even want it lol.
@jonathanotten7638Ай бұрын
@@cheekoli yeah, I thought the whole purpose of the ring was that it would do some kind of cool centrifugal turbo-shaking, which would be pointless, but a neat party trick. But nah, it just squirts half an ounce of lime juice from a tiny reservoir that can only hold two total ounces?? I mean, hell, the bartesian keurig-drink thing looks better than this, and it's still a joke.

I actually tried grinding down the tea leaves to make matcha (good sencha leaves), though I used a coffee grinder, but it's a bit hard to make it super fine. I had to use a sieve and grind again etc. It came out delicious, but it took some effort to grind. I'm not sure I'd do it again.

I highly recommend getting a flame tamer/metal plate for gas stoves. They're less than 20 bucks and tame the flame so everything's even. Especially if you're having low flame issues. Plus they double on induction of allowing you to put that on the cooktop and then use any pot or pan that's not induction.

Haha one tip for working with the slicer, esp with cheese, you don’t want your product sitting out in the middle or the front of the grip. Have it sitting against the wall at the end near the handle. It will shift less this way and you don’t have to apply so much pressure. Also maybe apply a food safe lubricant to the blade so it doesn’t stick so much to your cheese.

My main set of knives are Global knives. They have a nice set of knife sharpeners that work with Asian knives (since they have a narrower knife edge than European knives). The sharpeners are a set of wetstone rollers that are suspended on top of a small reservoir for water. I couldn't see getting that professional knife sharpener since it takes up so much space, and the Global sharpener does really sharpen Asian angle knives.

Knife sharpener is not worthless. You can say it's oversized, but you need to sharpen your knives, and not everyone is willing to put in the time and effort into learning to use whetstones. The stove...well, for a typical person that's overkill. Unless you want to cook like a high-end professional chef (or are a high-end professional chef), most people would still just set it on some random temperature and cook till they think it's done. As such, it's not useless (I mean, how can a functioning stove be useless in the first place?!), its price is just based on functions that have no real use in a typical household. Cocktail maker is outright a handicap though and the matcha maker is a space-waster, indeed.

Everyone puts on a really fancy dress to work in the kitchen, right 🙂 ? I have had the a control freak for years, although mine is just manual settings. Its breathtakingly expensive, but worth it if you can swing it. It really changes the way that you cook, once you learn what temperatures to use for the things you want to make. The thermometer is not a meat probe, it is for deep frying to manage the actual oil temperature.

I have considered buying a pro meat slicer for my home because I love sandwiches and deli meat and cheese in general and there is a GFS near me and I can buy whole blocks or tubes of deli meat from there and it seams to be like 1-3 dollars cheaper per pound to do it that way. Then i would just bag and freeze the meat and pull it out as I need it. I think the slicer would pay for its self after only year of owning it.

My wet stone is 60 years old, and so are some of my best knives. I did have some restored at the handle. My grandmother brought them home from when they were stationed in Japan at the end of WW2. My grandfather was a General in the Airforce, and my grandmother was a civilian employee. Most of my best glass is from Germany. It's also extremely higher quality than anything made now days my mother got them for her wedding. I forgot I'm 50. I guess my knives are 80, not 60. Lol, my Stand Mixer is a kitchen aid my grandmother got as a gift from her first husband. My moms dad also was WW2 in 1947 when my mom was born. I have a 1972 sedan delivery that was my parents' 1st car, and my husband has restored for me. I am very close to having my bedroom and living room finally finished in my 1950s to 1960s vintage style. My kitchen will be my last. I have my sink i need to restore, and I have my 1956 GE Oven warmer burner storage combination. My dream of the refrigerator is, however, probably never going to happen. The closest I can find working is the 1970s. My husband suggested buying the shell and moving components. Basically, making a fake one. He can fabricate, but the inside is the interesting part.

As someone who's worked in hospitality for the last 10 years I have never seen anyone use these 'professional' products 😂😂😂😂 most chefs use stones to sharpen their knives, tea sommeliers just get the highest quality Matcha rather than grinding it fresh because it's about the particle size as well as the quality. Matcha is usually first flush and first pick gyukoro (only the tips and first growth of the season) but depending on the farm or the producer it may vary (this is what I was taught at a tea farm in Japan 😅😅😅) and I'm sure most bartenders would just prefer to mix their drinks the old fashioned way. It's more fun for everyone to watch them shake it. Pls don't encourage people to buy more things that are single use. 😢😢😢😢 Probably the most useful item is the meat slicer but considering the danger aspect I don't recommend. Pls just ask your Deli person to slice to the thickness you prefer 😂😂

Omelette is something I cook while I'm sleepy or when I'm drunk and have no problem cooking it to perfection on a gas burner (while looking 10 times better than what you just shown). Also, an induction cook top is not equal to a gas burner and you failed to mention that too, again, a skill issue I guess.

Those knife sharpener gadgets don’t really sharpen the knife at all. There’s a science to how sharpening works, and those basic sharpeners don’t work under those rules. Sharpening requires removing metal from the knife, at an angle which creates micro-teeth. The basic sharpener removes metal, but it doesn’t create those micro-teeth, so it doesn’t remain sharp. That’s basically how it works, I’m no expert, can’t explain it much better.
