Back when I lived in my grandparents house, growing up, we had this exact same type of alarm and everytime one of my folks accidently armed it with the motion detection and one of us came up or down the stairs, the siren would always scare the hell out of me and I would dart upstairs in my room to cover my ears

8:20 Looks like you have auto stay mode turned on. Basically when you arm it to away or maximum, but you don't open an entry-exit door, it thinks that nobody left the house, and so it goes to the stay mode equivalent.

I have this exact same ADT system in my house, we stopped using it a little while ago though, I'm not sure why lol, but I remember that alarm sound! Our cats used to set it off or we'd forget it was armed and walk in front of the motion sensor lol, sometimes one of us would accidentally sit on the key chain alarm sounder thing and set it off too 😂 but the memories that sound brings back! We had the SafeWatch Pro panel system. We still have the system installed we just don't use it anymore.

what does it do when it is on stay does it disable all motion sensors or what?

Stay mode essentially turns on all the perimeter sensors (windows, doors, glass breakers etc) but not motion sensors. So if you were staying home, you would turn on stay to arm the perimeter of the house.
