I followed the instructions and thought there is a lot to go wrong if a novice starts dismantling the thermostat. I thought about this and assumed that the screen needs heat to repair itself. I didn't dismantle, but I got my wife's hair dryer and carefully warmed the screen. After around 30 -60 seconds of heating the screen was worse than before. However, leave it a few minutes to cool down and all the figures appear as good as new. Very pleased as it saved me the hassle, but thanks for the video that assisted me.

Thank you very much for this tutorial, Mark. My CM927 display is fully recovered. I can't believe my eyes. The only thing I did differently, after several attempts, was to put pressure with my fist on the whole screen while still hot. All numbers and letters are now showing as if brand new. Amazing. Cannot be more grateful.

First class information replaced my CM927 with Honeywell T3R 4 presets £82, wiring was more complicated old sensor box had power to boiler as well. But your comment take pictures is a must before and after. Made the mistake of putting batteries in room thermostat first, so when the sensor was powered up they didn’t talk to each other. I took the batteries out left for a minute and replaced them, that sorted. Watch your video and reconnecting sensor to thermostat but stopped when you said look for the red flashing light on sensor box and the wireless signal on the display both there happy. The T3R seems the work slower in boiler response but it works. Thanks for your videos regards Ian

Worked first time using some clips and a toaster! Some segments are still missing but don't want to risk over cooking it if it is working enough to use it. Thank you!

I have a cm927 which the screen has broken on as well. If i buy a new thermostat will it not just work with the existing Honeywell part that’s wired to the boiler already? Money is quite tight at the moment so didn’t want to get an electrician out to wire a new one up

I have a T3R wireless thermostat and it keeps resetting the date and time which mucks up the programs. Any idea why it would randomly remove the date and time?

id love to replace all this with the wiser smart system is it easy to do? my plumber refused to understand or do it? i have the t4r currently
@MarkBallardLTDHeatingEngineer2 жыл бұрын
All the wiring is basically the same live, neutral and two switch wires normally.
@MarkBallardLTDHeatingEngineer2 жыл бұрын
So you should be able to pick pretty much any smart controller

@@MarkBallardLTDHeatingEngineer thank you so no mystery then. I rather they put in the smart valves too but he wouldn't listen. I guess its because they don't do that.

I saw review on Honeywell smart. It's looks ott and ugly. Not sure why they did that weird led screen. So the t4r will have to go even though I like it's simplicity. Ugh.

Hi Mark I have a Honeywell CM907 wired in thermostat, which as in your vid the screen has gone. Not bothered about a wireless system as selling house soon but wanted to replace with a T3 to help the sale. Is that a simple swap pls? The boiler service guy said they’re simpler than a T4 & most importantly cheaper. Any advice welcomed thank you. Neil.

I’ve tried your technique to fix mine, but it didn’t work. When I press on any of the panel buttons the screen goes blank. I then have to shake it to get the screen back which is very annoying. Anyone got ideas what the problem could be? The digital display is perfect otherwise..

Thanks for the video. Is it possible to just replace the damaged programmable unit and not the receiver? In other words can I buy a unit and pair it with the old receiver?
@keithhalliday47163 жыл бұрын
Might as well go for a cheaper unit and receiver the cm927 is overpriced and the unit will cost about £100 on its own so just do a toaster repair or replace both can get a receiver and unit for about £80.

I cannot fault your logic at all. It may not be based on science at all, but it seems to be based on common sense and I respect that. The faulty bit is likely easy to diagnose if they could be arsed to call back faulty units and give at least a partial refund on a new unit. Customer service should do that as a common courtesy? I worked in R&D in many companies over the years and developed a vast database of "dodgy" components over many products over the years. My NDA on most forbids me to disclose specific brands or products, but I still have a keen interest some years after being arsed to cover my butt before signing a product off to a spotty BA student fresh out of uni that has no idea how a valve works, or even thinks a flip flop is a French man in sandals..
