I used to work on these in the UK back in the day along with Excel+ and Delta 1000 systems. Using Deltanet CAE could take a whole night to compile on a big job with Excel+ and FS90 only to find the next day you missed something out. You could actually enter the configuration using another card but I think that was on the addressable system only. Then keeping a stack of EPROMs in a little production line between erasing and burning them. Also learnt how to program in Pascal with the Excel+ Good times.

Class B wiring is the most common and has an end-of-line resistor at the last device in the loop. Class A wiring goes back to the panel after the last device, meaning that each zone or NAC requires 4 wires instead of 2. Both types allow the panel to supervise for faults or shorts along the way.

There's a potentiometer on the strobe's board that adjusts the speed. I have it set pretty high, but it does flash faster than most of these that I've seen.

I've thought about making a smaller system for "mini" tests. I still have that portable board setup that I used in some of my really old videos, and I've considered installing the 2001 on it or building a demo board for coded pull stations and Gamewell boxes. It may happen someday.

Awesome! My college had these panels in the newer J building, with the gyms and the student center. However, that was when we had multiple other systems tied into each other, there was a couple of Edwards 6500s and some rare wheelock panels. The whole system got replaced with some multiplex Notifier ONYX system, and those honeywell panels were scrapped and now probably used as junction boxes.

I got the System 3 on Craigslist from a psychiatric clinic, and the 4005 came out of a school in Ohio that was being demolished. Both panels I no longer have.

I get asked this question a lot lol. No, I don't! I don't need a single fire alarm panel or fire alarm device. They don't protect my house, and they aren't my career. BUT, I'm fortunate to have a community of awesome subscribers who (with a little help from AdSense) essentially pay for all these panels by watching my videos and allow me to keep making videos of cool new stuff that I WANT, not need. I'm also fortunate to have a place to store them and tolerant neighbors. Big thanks to everyone!

question for you ... I realize this video is a little older, but I came across it while searching for a manual for these panels ... I am testing alarms in a prison, and several of the buildings have these panels (or version thereof) ... What I'm wondering is, in playing around with this panel, have you happened to find out whether or not they are capable of a "walktest" function? would be handy in the prison setting since the person working with me has to stay with me so it requires an additional person :P ...
