Just after 3-4 usages/gallons and it’s already all caked up, especially if you use tap water rather than distilled water. And once the mineral build up is too much the machine just won’t work anymore until you clean it out. A lot of effort, imo… Mine broke down only after about 1 year… Good concept, but too much maintenance particularly if following the video instruction.

Hello! I’ve cleaned my humidifier 4-5 times now and after each time cleaning, it has gotten slower at producing mist. The first few times using it after getting it, I had to refill the water within 6 hours because it was heating up so fast. Now it seems like it’s just sitting there hardly making mist. Have I ruined it some how?
@honeywellpluggedin98345 жыл бұрын
Hey Maddi! If your humidifier is producing less output over time, this is likely because minerals from your water are building on the heating element. When soaking the heating element with vinegar (per the cleaning video's instructions), you may want to consider soaking it longer than 20 minutes, such as overnight. You can then use a soft bristled brush to remove the mineral deposits. For additional assistance our team can be reached by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

Any recipe ideas for the mineral deposits? So far I've ground them into a fine dust but am really lacking inspiration.
@lrvogt12573 жыл бұрын
I have a vaporizer with that kind heating element. The element will eventually collect build up but I'd rather do a lot of cleaning every couple months than go through that annoyance every week. That is not going to happen. It may run a bit less efficiently but it still works.
@pheejl75342 жыл бұрын
You’re a very light user of the machine then… As depending on how much your usage is it may not last even a single week, let alone “a few months” before you must clean it out. Once the mineral build up is too much it will just shut down and you have to do maintenance for it to restart again. Mine broke down after 1 year of moderate-heavy use.

Hello, the Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridge features a patented antimicrobial, Aquastat®, that continuously works to inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold. This will also help prevent the buildup of slime in the water and humidifier surfaces. For the best results, it is recommended that you clean your humidifier per the instructions to remove any buildup that may have accumulated. After the humidifier has been cleaned, place one (1) Protec cartridge per tank and fill them with fresh water. Operate humidifier according to the manufacturer’s directions and replace Protec cartridge every 30 days. How does the Essential oil feature work? is it like an oil diffuser?
@honeywellpluggedin98345 жыл бұрын
Thank you for checking. This is not like an oil diffuser and will not send the oil out into the room. The way the feature works is that you pour a small amount of the oil into the medicine cup at the top of the cooling chamber. As the warm air passes the oil, it will pick up some of the scent an help spread that through the room. Thank you for reaching out to us. Occasionally, new units can have a 'new unit' smell from the plastic packaging. I have found it’s easier to clean if the heating element is wet and has not run out of water and dried the deposits onto the element all you need is a toothbrush Nothing More who has time to wait 40 minutes to clean and disinfect this I don’t even let mine cool off when I put clean water around the heating element it warms it up so it helps dissolve the deposits I don’t like the design of this because the heating element isn’t on the bottom and it doesn’t produce as much steam like the 705 340 and the 950 models their heating elements are on the bottom the 340 produces the most steam because it’s a 400 W heating element but I hate that it’s a top fill design LOL
