Part one of a two part review of the bus services of New World First Bus which, like Citybus, is a subsidiary of NWS Holdings. This film covers the low-numbered Hong Kong Island services, while Part 2 covers the high-numbered services. Cross Harbour Tunnel services will be covered in a separate film. No single-deckers in this film - you'll have to wait for Part 2 for them!
Filmed in March 2017, this is an interesting time for NWFB. The 38xx series of 2-axle Enviro 400 double deckers, that are intended to replace the 33xx series Dennis Tridents, are being delivered but have not yet been assigned to routes 9 or 15; instead, you see them on general duties. The 12 metre Dennis Tridents are in the process of being withdrawn, and withdrawals of the 10.6 and 11.3 metre ALX500-bodied Tridents are about to begin. The Neoplan Centroliners soldier on, but withdrawals will start in Summer 2018. New vehicles are 12 metre Volvo B9TLs with Wright bodywork and 11.3 and 12.8 metre Enviro 500s; the new vehicles are very smart, but the older vehicles are looking decidedly tatty (some have never been repainted during their service lives).
