"Hong Kong Confidential" Storyline - Secret agent Casey Reed is assigned to locate a missing Arab prince kidnapped by Communists who hope to force the prince's father, king of the small Arab nation of Thamen, to cancel the signing of an agreement allowing a US missile base in his country. Reed, fronting as a nightclub singer with his unsuspecting girlfriend Fay, gets a lead which ultimately leads to his capture by the Communists. He learns that he and the Arab prince are both to be killed in order to blame the kidnapping on the US.

I've always liked this film (a lounge-singing spy played by Gene Barry!), and it's quite interesting to see it from a 16mm copy, the way I would have seen it on some UHF station back in the day. Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks for uploading this. I looked up Allison Hayes and was surprised to read about her death. So tragic that she died at 46 years old and how she suspected lead poisoning from the Calcium supplements she was taking!

It's odd that Barry, who won a two-year scholarship to study singing at a noted music school in Manhattan, couldn't carry a tune in a paper bag. He was the much older cousin of one of my girlfriends of many years ago. She told me he was just as oily and creepy in real life as he appeared on screen. Amusing film. Great print.

Gene Barry: undercover lounge lizard. And, in Burke's Law we saw that he could smirk lecherously at hot 60s women. His range was claustrophobic, but within that range, he was more or less acceptable. Later, in Name of the Game, he proved he was capable of conveying sanctimony, yet another skill. I like him more than I should.

There, they’re their people. This is a comment section usually typed with a 2 inch keyboard. I know this is pure propaganda and it's most shameful but I still really dig the movie I don't really know why I guess it's just the whole genre of these noir films that I am a sucker for and you can actually escape to an alternate reality that our government actually has honest people with integrity that have altruistic motives. Wouldn't it be great if they made a movie that actually exposed to Crooks in our own government for once. Thanks for allowing me to escape for an hour of so from the insane reality that we are currently experiencing :-)

Macao, like Hong Kong, has a land border with China. If you have gold in Macao and buyers in China, it's nonsensical to bring it into Hong Kong and then moving it into China; all you have to do is bring it into China directly from Macao.
