That is never true. The MTR has planned future generations and they said the south island line will be constructed into two sections. East and West but today it is named the tuen ma line, or maybe your comment is an old comment. In fact, I heard that the government planned to build a monorail from Kai Tak to Kowloon Bay!

Sorry for giving you a dislike, but today is 2022 so the Shatin Central Link of the East Rail Line is the newest. The government is also planning to build the North Island Line which the Tsueng Kwan O section is like this : Po Lam > Hang Hau / LoHAS Park > Tsueng Kwan O > Tiu Keng Leng ( Kwun Tong Line )> Yau Tong ( Kwun Tong Line ) > Quarry Bay ( Island Line ) > North Point ( Island Line ) > Causeway Bay North > Exhibition ( East Rail Line ) and interchanges in the future Tamar station with the Tung Chung Line that leads to IFC.
