"nan" in "Kunmingnan" means South, i.e. South station of Kunming. They used to have an announcement on the train that says that the train's wifi is secure as long as the train is in HK and will become unsecure once it enters mainland China. Very true.

Very true. Even the train speed in Hong Kong was up to 180 Km/h but once crossed the border, it went up to 320 Km/h. Thx for the info.
