Good morning Chris, I wish you get well soon and get back your voice so familiar to us. Here in Canada we get only two colors of HD bottled ink ( Blue and Black) sourced out of an Amazon warehouse in the USA. The Teal and Brown would have been really interesting and I will keep on checking for future availability. Thanks for this needed review of inks for our thirsty HD stable. C

@@themisterchristie Thank you but unfortunately they charge a lot for shipping to Canada and do not combine items for shipping. So for three bottles of ink I would have to pay U S $9.55 US for shipping each bottle in addition to the ink bottle cost of $9.99. Not cost effective for me.

Chris, there is something a bit weird about this ink. I put Peacock Blue in my Wing Sung 601 with the Bobby mini fude nib. It was the first time it was ever inked. I hated it. It was kind of dry and the colour was really off. I did stick it in a cup nib down (capped) for a couple of hours to let the ink run down. It didn't look like my dip pen swatch either. My Wing Sung 3013 just had its first good cleaning since I bought it, other than a quick wash before the first fill. I tried it in there. It has one of Bobby's Wing Sung Medium soft nibs. That was OK. I was considering dumping out the 601 but decided to try it again in my "scribble" book. It was much better a couple of days later. The 3013's writing sample was better too. It looked really good. This ink does better after sitting in the pen for a couple of days. I have never heard of this. It also seems to do better with a larger nib. I'm going to try the Burl Wood. I'm not sure if I will like brown ink so I don't want to spend a lot.

Ink is a little on the light side. Burl is the lightest. Ink works better in wetter nibs. I've found that ink/pen/paper can affect writing a lot. What works in some pens on some paper, doesn't work with others.

Lovely inks & a great price! Also just checked my N12 & the piston knob on mine seems very firm with no wiggle. Will have to see if that continues after multiple refills.

Nice ink review Chris. I'm not sure why it took me so long to come across it!! I do have a bottle of the Teal that I like very much, and I'm considering getting the Peacock Blue. The Burly Wood doesn't really interest me, and with a 4.5 oz. & a 16 oz. bottle of Heart of Darkness I got enough black ink to last a lifetime!! I do have the obligatory glass dip pen, but the tip was broken on arrival. I did manage to sand it and got it writing nicely, but with a wider line than I would like. That's why when I saw it recently, I got the Majohn Master N12 - a dip nib holder with 4 screw in nib units one of which is a glass nib that is fantastic. The other 3 nibs are regular #5 Steel nibs in Extra Fine, Fine, & Medium.

I bought their inks in cartridges in each color. At the time I bought the cartridges (last year), they didn't have bottled ink. The inks are lovely. They write very well. They have some very nice shading, which surprised me. Thanks for the video.

Orange inks are commonly dry, I would try a different ink before messing with the nib. Also, the difference between the glass nib and the blade is not surprising, since you aren’t likely to get much shading from a glass nib when compared to a nib that drags the ink like an italic or architect style grind.

Some very nice inks! I only found Blue and Black ink but I hope they stock up on theother colors soon. I had to go and check on my Hongdian N12: the blind cap on mine is tight and doesn't move easily. Maybe it comes down to luck? Similar to the nibs? So far I had one nib made by Hongdian that didn't write at all, one needed some work, 5 were great out of the box.

I have the same N9 with an EF nib, love that pen. Hope you get all better soon. Hongdian has being making great affordable pens, would love to try their inks, can't disappoint.

I am just about empty with my Aurora Black ink. This black is very interesting. Would you recommend it for a left handed writer? The packaging ronds me of the Iroshizuku box upside down. I really like the olastic seal.

​@@chrisrap52I finally opened the bottle and put it in a Pilot Prera. It ain't half bad. It is a stable matte ink. Very good flow and dries quickly like you mentioned. Could it be darker? Yes. Any recommendations for a darker black.

Hi Chris, hope you get well soon. I've tried their black ink that came with the 'light of hope' and it found it to be too wet for my liking. Bleed through was bad but the colours are very pretty. Ps: would you be doing a review on the Hongdian c3?

Ink is wet, that I like. Put it in a pen that was writing dry & now it writes well. No plans for C3. Pen does not interest me.

If you would like an opinion on the Hongdian C3: mine arrived 2 days earlier. It is the yellow C3 in EF. Mine writes very nice, has a little bit of feedback (the good kind), decently wet and I would order it again. I like the weight of it, but I tend to like metal pens. The nib works great for my small handwriting. Maybe this short opinion can give you an idea of the pen.
