Thanks, David. I always appreciate seeing reviews of pens that are reasonably priced and are good starter or EDC writing instruments.

I have recently bought this pen from Etsy . Very nice pen with a comfortable grip for long writing .The nib has a bit of feedback and is not scratchy at all. Ebonite feed with no 8 size nib is not very common with under $30 pen . I have ordered a fine nib and am very happy with the purchase❤

I don't know how I feel about the design, but Hongdians are my favorite desk pens for work--they always write, I don't have a panic attack if one accidentally falls on the ground, and I don't have to watch them like a hawk in case my (non-FP collecting) boss needs to write something down and grabs the closest one at hand.

I just received this pen. I found some issues with the N10 and decided to try the A9. Based on your review, it seems to possibly be a better pen than the N10. If the N10 had a resin section and less difficulty in maintaining the piston, it would have been a much better pen. But I digress. Excellent review of a less expensive pen. I am looking forward to inking the pen. One more suggestion would be to make the converter larger as Jinhao has done with their pens that have #8 nibs. They hold as much ink as a piston filler.

I actually like the two grooves in the side because they are sort of hidden in plain sight, but when you rotate the pen, suddenly you see the bright anodised metal colour pop out from below the surface.

David, your review is well aligned with others reviews in that this A-9 offering is a surprisingly good one especially when compared to the A-10. I especially enjoyed the microscopic view showing the dimpled details.

Hi David, I own the brown model, I wish I could use it more as it is a very good looking pen. The issue i have is that is way to smooth and slips of my fingers. I was wondering if you have any tips. Thanks in advance.

I think from laser engraving method's perspective/limitations, the lines are somewhat inevitable, can it be made thinner? maybe, but making the moire effect a full on 360, perhaps much like knurling, if not done correctly, it would make a worse outcome overall than the thick lines made 'intentional'. the lines remind me of some printed paper decorative on some 80s-90s cheap pens mimicking celluloid textures, I think Chrisrap52 has some of them.

I wasn't sure about the colour, but now I really love mine! Certainly the most comfortable of the #8 pens to write with. Usual Hongdian high qualjty and smooth writing experience.

As a next iteration Hongdian can try a grooved metal section (like Gravitas pens) and improve the tread mechanism to always align with the line:).

I like Hongdian pens. They are pretty and write well, but the grip sections on the ones I've purchased were too steeply narrowed and metal, wich doesn't suit my writing grip and style. This looks like it might work 😊

I have the blue pen and it is a darker blue color than I was expecting. Which of the two colors do you think is most eye catching?

Interesting that the cheap Chinese pens are getting better over time.

Real shame about the line down the side. It interrupts the othewise pleasing esthetic.

Hi David, I love your videos and eagerly await each new one. I know I am nitpicking, but I find that your video title is kind of disingenuous. The pen is $26 plus tax, not $25. Again, I know that this is a very small nit to pick, but I'm sure you can appreciate attention to detail.

You know you’re nitpicking and yet you proceed. Acknowledging the nitpicking is not permission to do it ( which is what your sub conscious is doing) so that you can continue to nitpick without guilt. It is shameless self- approbation to act in away that you acknowledge is unnecessary. If you consider this over analysis, I would argue I’m about $1 off of the Mark.

@@A4000 well said, the other way seems to just close to profanely direct. also regional shipping, tax, retail set price, etc., makes setting up a 'price' for display purposes always highly contextual, depending on situations.
