Hi Cory, Happy and Prosperous new year to you and the family! Sitting and contemplating the job before and after are the most important parts of the job. Doing the work is almost incidental 😀 Thank you Sir for the video and hope to see the engine buttoned up and running soon. All the best!

Really helpful thanks! When looking inside each cylinder you mention you're looking for a 'cross-hatch' pattern on the walls. Could I ask - what exactly is that and why is it important? Thanks again! :D
@conrad14682 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sir! Lots of different theories why the cross hatch. The cross hatch is used to hold oil on the cylinder walls longer to lube the piston rings. Plus it gives a texture for the piston rings to “seal” against. Some people call it breaking in the rings. When no cross hatch is there. The smooth surface doesn’t a good seal for the rings and doesn’t hold oil. So the engine starts to create blow by. Blow by will start pumping out crank gases out your engine breather because the rings can hold the compression form the cylinder head. If that makes any sense. I don’t know. Ha ha!!

Hey bud did you use a ridge reamer?
@conrad14683 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. No ridge reamer. I used lacquer thinner, a rag and a razor blade to the cylinder ridge.

Hi mate, I am a Land Rover KZbinr from the UK, I am in the middle of a project for a video where I’m asking a few Land Rover enthusiasts a few questions (such as what got them into land rovers, what was there first Land Rover, what’s there best Land Rover story etc.) I was just wondering if you would be willing to partake in this project by any chance. If not then that’s fine and if you would be interested then please let me know and I will share a private video with you explaining everything. Cheers, Rhys

Hello Rhys, Sounds like a fun project. I would be interested participating. Send me an email and we can chat. Email is in the description of my videos. Will I be able to share it to my YT channel? Have a great day!

@@conrad1468 Alright cheers, I’ll send you the link to the video explaining everything by email in a few days because I’m just recording it now 👍

@@conrad1468 Sorry it’s taken so long, I decided against making the video because there would be different circumstances for everyone so it would be easier for me to talk to them all on email. I’ve sent you an email using the email address in your description 2 minutes ago 👍 (And yes you could share it on your channel if you wished)

I didn’t pull them out but they looked OK and worked before pulling the head with no issues. If I do a full rebuild someday. I’ll dig in deeper. This is a quick and dirty job to see what’s going on inside the engine and a little freshen up.
