I have the 4BD1T in my 110 and love it. I'm going to try adding engine compartment sound and heat detoning to the underside of the hood and inside of the fenders to see if it helps with the loud noise of that engine.

I do miss my '86 110 with the 4BD1. Not a smooth, or powerful engine, but bloody solid.

@MegaReddevil71 you can blame the CEOs and Acountents for that im a Mechanic and I would have them all SHOT then we would build a moter that would last one million ks as long as you change the oil goog quality of cors well maintained

😂 the nvh though.... I lament the lack of 2 more cylinders whilst keeping it a 3.9 and the current overall dimensions. Curse the men who agreed a large 4cyl diesel was the go.. 😂

The only actual failure I have seen is the camshaft key failed. Only on one engine.

Yes, it is a isuzu engine. They were fitted into the military spec land rovers as well as some civilian county’s

So the key to reliability is keeping power levels below 25kW & 75Nm per liter. lol. 1.9L VW puts out similar power, weighs half as much, and uses half the fuel. Even that is 25yr old cheap & reliable stuff at this point.

I am surprised a reliable British engine well it is obvious that these diesel engines were used many years ago were Land Rovers with these diesel engines in them are doing over 1000000 kilometres now thats reliability and deserve the name bomb proof you can't beat you tube for learning something new every day and l do like reliability in any vehicle because l own and drive a 1997 Toyota Hilux 2X4 ute with the reliable 22R engine under the bonnet l even think any vehicle that can archive 500000 kilometres as reliable as in the Mahindra PikUp and Scorpio

They didn't. JRA (Jaguer Rover Australia) chose the Isuzu engine.
