Taking care of the land properly involves a lot of hard work and time especially since it wasn't done before. There are so many smaller farms in the same shape as you have found this one. Great videos of your farm and land. Thanks! Like the JD tractor.

You know what they say "Take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you". Lumberjack Chad there are these things called grease nipples on machines, check and apply grease, check the fluid levels too, AND be CAREFUL in the woods, I am living VICARIOUSLY through you. You lucky SO and SO 😂Well done 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself, be safe, and healthy 🇨🇦

HI CHAD: YOUR TRACTOR, WITH ALL OF IT'S ATTACHMENTS, IS LIKE HAVING AT LEAST 5 FARM WORKERS HELPING WITH THE CHORES! I ALSO LIKE TO WATCH "WORKING HORSES WITH JIM" FROM MOIRA, IN UP STATE NEW YORK BY THE CANADIAN BORDER. HE & HIS WIFE BRENDA RUN A FARM OF 126 ACRES USING HORSE POWER. HE DOES HAVE POWER EQUIP., BUT PREFERS THE HORSES. HE ALSO USES THE HORSES TO LOG IN THE WOODS AND, OF COURSE, HAS A TRACTOR WITH GRABBER (?) TO TRANSFER LOGS ONTO TRAILERS. HE IS ALSO INTERESTING TO WATCH (been farming & logging all his life). Farming is hard work, but very rewarding, especially eating out of a home grown garden, fresh eggs from your own chickens, and meat from organically fed animals! HI TO REMY and God bless....😊❤😮❤

Clearing the forest floor and allowing light to penetrate does make for not only a healthier forest, but also allows for the growth of previously inhibited flora and fauna. The benefit of this is that is will attract and hold more wildlife making for a balanced eco-system and entertainment for your guests.

Thank you for sharing Chad. I understand about pruning the forest so the young trees can grow big they need that sunshine and light. But your getting plenty of fire wood also. This looks like one of your favorite chores working with the forest. You have a wholesome life I love it I appreciate this way of life. Til next time... Sending love and support from Florida 🌺💫💫💫

For sure. There’s enough damaged trees to add matter to the forest floor and for the firewood. It’s a nice balance. I’ll get there in a decade or two 😂

Chad, my full beam Champion 27, ton log splitter cost me $1,100.00 with the tax from Home Depot, and they put it together, log splitters went way up in price. Glad I got mine when I did. Just watch your hands, (safety tip) 😁 Can't wait to see your work shop done !

Have considered building a few clearings in your forest for tent, car camping. Something like the small provincial park camp sights. It may be a possible source of additional income.
@HiddenSpringFarm
@HiddenSpringFarm 4 ай бұрын
Kind of, I just got a new sawmill so I’ll be strategically developing trails & build locations in the forest that will eventually lead to tiny cabin sites, maybe a tree house or sugar shack etc. not so sure I’d do camp sites though, so much more money to be made with cabins. Years away from that though but I have a few ideas.

Great video again Chad. I had a thought about the chipping. You could attach a heavy duty bag where the chips come out. It would save you double handling. It is your forest and trees. You do what you like with the land. What you are doing is great. Thank you so much for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all. ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘

Yes maybe a big bag could work although I’d have to source it and move it. I do have a little trailer but really I need a big of a bigger one that can dump. You’re onto something though.

Great job you're doing, Chad.. fascinating vid! This is sustainable forest maintenance.. 👍 Saplings need space and good light to grow, as you say, and you're harvesting trees that may hinder that important growth.. Fascinating vid! Hard work, but it'll be worth it in the end..

Hey hello, unrelated to this vid but I just watched your Catio build video and I have a suggestion to get cats to come in when you call them. I have multi, multi cats most rescued but I have been able to domesticate them all. The true original ferrals including my original domestic cats will all come in - in the eve for supper (which I have all ready for them) when I call them by ringing a Sleigh Bell. It's a leather strap with a brass ring (I use that to store hanging on the wall where I can always find and retrieve it when I need) it has 5 brass bells, ya' know this the kind meant to be attached to sleigh horse. Anyway, it rings pleasantly loud, so when cats are afar they still hear it. I ring, and ring lol, and they start coming in - they're trained now that I'm calling them in for supper. My 'catio' if you will is in my house, so in my case even if a cat or two are stubborn and won't come in when I ring for them, eventually they do and it's all good for me because it's easy in my case to keep checking the door for them because after all I'm already in my house. BTW, loved your touches you've included in your catio and gave me some good ideas for me as well. Best to you!

It happened just yesterday...I'm calling all the cats and I got them all back inside in about 30 minutes, except Tango she seems to always be the last and doesn't want to come back in. I actually have a bell too so I could make that work for sure. It'll most likely take some time to train the cats to it, I'll just use treats and their dinner as the training. I'll probably never give up calling them by name though too cause I enjoy that part, especially when they actually listen and run right back in when I open the door. I'm building myself new workshop right now, but when I'm done and all my stuff is moved out of the old one I'll be turning it into the ultimate cat playhouse so that'll be something fun to look forward to. Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.

Hi again, it's funny you mentioned you enjoy calling them by name i still do it too and love telling them what good kids they are for coming home, lol. And ya' know, my saying their names out loud totally helps me with "headcount" ha,ha, it's just one of those things -- I just have to say their names out loud to ensure I have them all accounted for, lol, lol. Yeah, so it seems like your kitties rule the roost too, here too, Lord I let them take over, they know who's boss, it ain't me. Lots of work and lots of reward. I'm gonna' check in to your channel from time to time to keep an eye out for your playhouse when you roll that out. Best to you and happy building. @@HiddenSpringFarm

Chad , I think you need a smaller bar on your chainsaw or buy another saw with a smaller bar and keep the other saw for bigger trees. Get yourself a pair of chainsaw Chaps to protect your legs. Great Job, be safe and keep a cell phone with you, just incase something would happen when you are out there by yourself. Very nice looking trees, great for 🪵firewood, split them small to make more $$$$ money ! Chad, when chipping the wood, put the chips into your small trailer to haul back to the house. Time saver 🎃🎃🎃

I do have a small chainsaw, I just brought the one out with me…no reason I guess. I need a way to bring all the gear out with me like maybe build some kind of rack. I have chaps but my Darlin is mending the belt clip as it got worn. And yes I do have that small trailer but I need to add a tow hitch to the rear of the wood chipper, otherwise I need to use the utv and walk all the way back to get the tractor. I wish I knew how to weld, one day I’ll teach myself.

just buy the 70 dollar chaps so you don't have to cut at such a strange position... negligible amount of money for the potential accident avoidance.
