Yes, Arknights is a tower defense game, but unlike most TD games that only needs overpowered units to win, Arknights requires bit more strategy and proper timing especially in later stages of the game, it's fun and you should try if TDs are your thing

Arknights currently has 235 unique operators in the game (global) and these are trailers and animations for all of them and their separate storylines since this mobile game has different branching stories as their events. As someone who was never into tower defense games either, Arknights wayy surpasses that genre imo. It's evolved beyond it, especially in the later parts. Earlier sections are very much simple tower defense as to not make things too difficult for new players, but the game quickly introduces new mechanics in the gameplay that make it more than just a tower defense game

O yea, forgor to add some stuff: - Most of these trailer is rather a side story, like the very recent Stultivera Navis. - If you tried to play this game, I recommend you to play it on PC with Android emulator (example LDPlayer 9). It's the one with blue-eyed rabbit woman looking kinda menacing, probably staring at your soul, and produced by Yostar. - The girl in "Shatterpoint" teaser is not the same as the girl in who touched the mirror. This is Theresa, not gonna spoil it but she's a biggie in terms of main campaign role. The earlier was Specter, a playable character that got her limited variant, the Unchained. - Everytime there's a "New Collection", it means that there's a new skin for some operator that are displayed with the said skin, like for example Siege. Also at the very end you'll see "some brand" coming soon to the store, it's an in game clothes brand that are making the clothes/skins if you will. - Yes, This is a Tower Defense game, with each and every Operators in-game has different role to fit in, their gimmick and such. - The highest star in the game are 6 star, but the higher the star is the higher too the Deployment Points required to deploy the said Operator. 2 star defender can go as low as 12 DP, while 6 star can go as high as 35 DP. - On special Occasion (Collaboration, Summer, Anniversary), the teaser will most likely be 3D animation. Keyword: MOST. - Arknights main story is about there is a rock cancer spread amongst this world called Oripathy, and the one who caught called Infected. As such, some nation In this world discriminates Infected lives heavily because of the incurable disease and also it allows you to get some "superpower" that will change their life completely. We are Doctor who is awaken from Sachrophagus, waking from slumber and got amnesia, didn't remember anything at all, either close confidant or our own name. We are a leader of Rhodes Island, a Pharmaceutical company that seek cures for Oripathy Disease, with Amiya and Kal'tsit as out closest person. The rest you have to venture on your own. - All 1 star Operator is a robot (like Lancet-2) - In 25:50, these items are from Integrated Strategies, a Roguelike mode with different stages from usual, you can get advantages/disadvantages from getting this items in the mode. "What is he?" Lee's race, the Lung are based off of Dragons of Eastern folklore. I believe Lee specifically is based off of Goldfish though, as in "The goldfish that leapt over the waterfall to become a dragon". It's an old folklore and is likely why the design is as it is. As far as I am aware, this is just my theory though, as far as I am aware the intention behind the design isn't specifically known.

Lee is a "Koi", which is a fancier type of "goldfish". They have these cloud-shaped marks on them, making them very pretty. Aside from that, you are correct. Lee is a representation of the Asian folklore of the "Fish that becomes a dragon". Also, fun fact: Lee's JP VA is Urahara Kisuke from Bleach. There are many other characters that have a well known VA, like Ayerscarpe being Erin Yaeger; Mountain being Roronoa Zoro; etc.

About your question what the story is about, the core of the story is a fight for the rights of the infected(people suffering from a deadly transmittable disease), but the story goes deeper than that, often outright stating that even if the disease was cured people would still oppress, discriminate and fight one another, as long as the system which creates discrimination to enrich itself doesnt disappear. So the real point of the story is bridging the gaps between people, nations, races etc. a story about fighting for a better and more just future.

As someone who likes neither mobile games nor tower defense games, I highly recommend Arknights to anyone even a bit interested in it. It can be brutally difficult at times, but it makes you feel like a genius when you figure out a strategy in a difficult stage that works, the story and writing are rather good, and the music is fantastic.

Firstly, welcome aboard the Arknights train: Arknights is a Tower Defence game which revolves around a pharmaceutical company called "Rhodes Island", with you playing as The Doctor. Its mission is to provide assistance to patients and a cure for a cancerous disease called "Oripathy" - a disease caused after an exposure overdose from a mineral called Originium. People who suffers from Oripathy as known as the Infected, and are heavily subjected to harsh prejudice from the public. In your journey, you travel across the world meeting new people (trailers, new operators). Do note that all these people and places are a part of the overall Arknights worldbuilding. As for the character designs, all are based after animals and mythological creatures such as Pegasus, Dragon, Angels, Demons etc. Every trailer contains the upcoming (updated) lore and its implications, new characters (New Operators), character skins, dorm furniture designs and other misc stuff. Lastly, Arknights music is a heavy banger so I highly suggest that you check all of them out!

You can play Arknights just fine on your phone. You need an emulator to play on PC and playing on PC is only necessary for strategies that require literal microsecond reactions involving pausing and unpausing the game. Also, beyond the 3d animated videos and operator trailers, there are actually mini anime style trailers for most events. As for the story, the short of it is that you are part of a pharmaceutical company in a conflict riddled world and your character is in charge of commanding the military/security branch. The first part of the main story is about fighting an extremist group made of up of people infected by a disease that the company treats but the world hate and fears for a variety of reasons. (I'll leave it at that for no spoilers) The long answer is that there are literally several dozen different side stories exploring the world and the main story is actually a very small part of the greater narrative.

Arknight's story is kind of depressing, but ultimately hopeful. Like, "the world sucks, but we have to believe we can change it." And of course it has plenty of comedy and light-hearted moments on the way. In terms of the event trailers you're watching, each one has its own complete story, although most of them are side stories. You mentioned Genshin Impact, so I'll compare it to that: each side story is usually about a different country or city-state in the setting, and has about as much story content as an entire country in Genshin Impact. So, like, in Genshin you'd visit Liyue, meet a bunch of people there, solve their main problem, and then move on to somewhere else next time. It's like that, for every single one of these trailers. Whereas the main story goes way deeper into one region at a time, over multiple chapters. Sometimes the side stories have sequels though.
