The anime has covered chapters 1-6 of the game. It's a bit rushed but season 1 covers chapters 1-3 and season 2 covers 4-6. Chapter 5 and 6 are well known in the community as where the story quality gets really good so the anime does a good job giving a consolidated focus on the story but if you want more in depth world building then reading the story in-game would be best. Always great to see people find Arknights, hope you keep enjoying the PV's and music! The game company Hypergryph is also jokingly called a music studio in the community because they make character songs for newly released characters and like 90% of them are amazing.

Oooo, then I guess I should aim for finishing at least chapter 5 during the first-time gameplay livestream if that's where the story quality gets really good! How exciting~ I definitely want more in-depth world building stuff, so I'll stick with the game and then watch the anime once I finally get through all the videos on Arknights official channel. hehe That'll take me some time! One of the really unique things about AK is the stories take place on multiple different countries and have many languages and dialect. Apart from the CN, JP, EN, and KR dubs the devs have added Italian, German, Russian, and regional Chinese for some units to reflect where they are from. And you can individually set languages for units, so you can mix and match whenever if you get bored of a certain voice

This video brings me back, where years ago I was blown up by those concept trailers with STARSET, while diverse faction trailers really picked my interest in the lore. And despite the age of those trailers and the fact that quality of recent ones surpasses them - I still like them. So thank you for letting me experience it again Fun fact - you are among the few ones that actually decided to start from the oldest videos, without specifically picking certain types of content (like, only animated trailers, or only music videos). As for questions.. you asked a lot of them, xD So I will to try to answer them in no particular order (though I may miss some of them) And yeah, WARNING that this may end up as a very long comment. - Yes, the main genre of gameplay is indeed a Tower Defense. But it has a quite of tricks and mechanics to it, and every new chapter or event only brings new ones, so it's rarely goes stale. - Events are fun! They "generally" more chill and less dark than a Main Story and bring more overall lore bits to enrich the *massive* worldbuilding this franchise possesses. They can be hard to clear for newbies, since they time limited at first launch, but eventually an absolute majority of them get added to the game permanently, with no time restrictions. - Difficulty of the game is subjective, but I personally would describe it as "reasonably challenging". The most important thing to beat a stage - is a player's personal skill and knowledge. And things like what units you actually have or their stats are matters only after that. - This brings us to gacha system and characters balance. Generally speaking, the game will never leave you without ability to clear content. Even the most basic characters are cool enough to beat most of the Main story just by themselves (but with mindful use of course), and you in any case will be having much more than just them. There are also multiple ways to get new characters aside of the gacha pulling itself. *But* if you really aim at only one specific high rarity character - then a long saving process or real money may be required to actually ensure you get them. But yet again, in general you can end up without interesting and powerful characters only if you outright refuse to use them for some reasons. By the way, all the chars that you have seen so far you can get even without engaging with gacha system, with just some luck on your side. - There are a lot of different parties/factions/countries involved in different matters and plot lines. Though we don't have much to choose as a players regarding story progression. Doctor is part and one of the key figures of Rhodes Island and, especially in the first chapters of the story, acts more like an observer. But that is not always the case and they also have moments to shine. - I found out that it is generally hard to pick up what exactly is going on just from the trailers, which lead us to: - Anime or the game. Arknights: Prelude to Dawn has directly covered few starting chapters of the Main story. And while it is good as an adaptation of the souce material, as a stand alone anime it is just "okay", unfortunately. I personally would suggest to go for the in-game story first, since you already showing interest. But it is just a mere suggestion. The rest missing questions (that I forgot) I'll honorably leave to others, so About the parts that I like about the game. Well, I was initially sold the moment I heard Starset in the first trailer, xD This was just mind blowing (and it is still is, honestly) for me. Songs from Starset are not the thing you can just buy and slap on mediocre cash grabbing app after all. It turned out that the creator of Arknights (the Lord, the meme, the Legend) "just" really liked them. And, funny enough, this mentality of "oh, I like this, I will try to ask them to collab with my game" has brought to us several very interesting collaborations. You will see later in other trailers. But even putting music aside, I'm the person who really respects mindfully crafted and deep Worldbuilding. And Arknights in this regard is just... wow. Every playable characters has their own backstory, place of birth on the world map, goals, motivation and connections to other characters with *their own* stories, backgrounds and etc. All of this together forms a huge net, where every new profile or mini-story you read will give some info about other characters, their countries, history events of the world or technical bits of how things works lore-wise (things like Arts, Originium, Catastophes, etc). At first, it is rather confusing. What, who, where, why. But as you read more, acquire more pieces. gather them together - you start to see not a story of characters with background settings throwed-in just to make sense. You start to see a whole living and breathing world. An Untitled World that feels Alive And that is fascinating
@Trailblazer_Ririna Жыл бұрын
Oh, it's great that we can get a lot of characters without having to interact with the gacha system! That's a lot better than I expected~ I think I will play the game to a good extent before checking out the anime (maybe as a refresher instead). I'm still amazed that Starset songs are used since I always enjoyed their music (especially in AMVs)~ hehe The creator of Arknights has GREAT taste in music. :3 I love lore filled games, so I'M SO EXCITED TO PLAY THE GAME SOON!!!! @@Trailblazer_Ririna haha, glad to see it makes you excited I think throwing a few "bad" things about the game would make it more fair and objective, since nothing is perfect. Though the most "bad" thing I can think of is the fact that the game is time consuming and requires some focus to invest to, in order start things off. It's especially relevant to understanding the world and gameplay mechanics. In other words, Arknights has relatively slow start that you will need to get over to. I mean, it is may seem pretty obvious. Complex things require some time and effort to learn. And it varies from person to person of how much time and focus they can spare, but in case of Arknights I think that ultimately it is really worth it.

@@VCE4 When you say, invest to, do you mean building the characters? Or just gathering my knowledge about the world from the game? @VCE4 Жыл бұрын
@@Trailblazer_Ririna well, I meant mostly later. Understanding the world. Though it also a case for understanding a gameplay mechanics, but it is a gradual process in any case. As for building characters - it is also true. In that field you would need to decide in what characters you want to invest resources first, since they (resources) come usually not as fast as we want. It is a gacha game after all. In short it is just about playing with at least slightest regard to resource management (aka not throw everything you have in only one niche unit) and to not sleep at your Base (which is a passive source of income that too many new players ignore for some reasons). Other things is just a matter of time

The game is very easy to get into at the beginning, and it gets progressively harder later on due specific mechanics that the story/events introduce. The good thing is every stage in the game can be completed without having to get the highest rarity units. There are plenty of people that promote the idea of niche-knights (using units of a specific archetype) or using lower rarity units because they can get the job done as well. Just need careful planning before the start each stage. The game has great art/ music/character lore/world building that make you feel like you have entered a massive rabbit hole once you learn about the world of arknights and the number of events that happened prior to where the main story is now, and how everything is tied together. Cant wait to see your reaction to some of the more upcoming events and story PVs since they hit pretty hard too, and the quality of each PV gets increasing better with each PV.

Events in Arknights are actually extremely fun. But you are going to delve deep into a rabbit hole. Very deep. Some are side stories focusing on some other characters, some are side stories focusing on the main characters, some are so important to the world building of Arknights that they have been put in a separate "Intermezzi" category even though they were released as side-stories. Each event comes with a new gameplay mechanic, new characters,new skins, a new story and some other things (besides rewards of course).
@jillstingray8828 Жыл бұрын
As an additional note: Almost all the skins in Arknights can be purchased with Originium Prime (basically the premium currency) which you can actually earn by clearing stages, and each new event/main story chapter brings more stages to earn Originium Prime. Some skins are given for free though, and there is 1 skin that was sold as part of a pack. It was an Arknights Anime Celebration pack, so it was an exclusive pack skin. There were some other collaboration KFC skins that we (the Global players) haven't received but the game wasn't released Globally (it was Chinese only) back then and I assume the devs weren't able to secure a deal with KFC to bring them to Global as well, but generally, we now receive everything the Chinese players do.

@@Trailblazer_Ririna Generally yes, you can buy most of the skins with the currency from clearing stages and what not. + They give 5 premium currency whenever there is a big maintenance (6 hours +). To give you some prices: 15 OP skin - base animation changed + new outfit 18 OP skin - like 15 OP + all skills have a new animation 21 OP skin - like 18 OP + live2d artwork 24 OP skin - like 21 OP + all voicelines redone to fit the theme of the skin + new intro when you login if you set the operator as assistant For newer players it's a bit harder to buy "ALL" the skins for free, since they've missed on all the old origium prices from maintenances, some free daily login events that gave originium prime and if there were any other gifts. We also had some free skin vouchers when they released an "alter" (alters were once limited) if the character had a skin, but they don't do that anymore, since now alters are a lot more common. Anyway, it's probably too much information, and you shouldn't worry about it if you want to start playing. Arknights has passed the 300 characters mark at this point, and it is closing in to 400. (as a note all character names are what they chose as codenames, be it their real name or not.) Kjerag: Scandinavia, the Alps, and the Himalayas equivalent. Lungmen: Well i already told you :D And I have told you they are technically factions in discord however factions are more for the non country/city places. Like Blacksteel is a faction, while ursus is a country but the characters from it i call factions for in game. If that makes sense. I probably just confused you more and if so dont worry about this last few sentences XD. Yep gameplay can start easy and get much more complicated but once you learn things it gets easier cept for certain events. I think i already told you that part though lol. Reunion is a faction. XD As a note AUS, DDD, and emperor are all in game music artists. In order AUS is a woman rock band, DDD is a DJ, and emperor is a rapping penguin. All published by both the in game and irl company Monster Siren Records. Events are fun some of the more challenging stuff is a pain though. Guys do exist however its like a 30/70 or 40/60 split with female characters in the lead. Outfits are indeed a big income with how generous the game is. Code of brawl, the penguin logistics event. Yea almost every event has at least 1-2 outfits. Contingency Contract is one of the challenging events i was talking about. But they always come out with banger music each time a new one comes out. Necessary Solutions and Partial Necrosis are both main story chapters. Wont spoil anything related to main story though. After you chose to stop watching trailers: Pity isn't bad I think its soft pity around 60 or 90 and climbs the 2% pull rate higher when you don't get a 6* However every 10 pulls you are guaranteed a 5*-6* so your first 10 wont just be 3 and 4*s. Limited banners are different however. There is the pity still but also a system called sparking which guarantees at 300. If you got the character from the limited you want there is always a pool of lower chance 6*s that were limited banners in the past, with the sparking you can grab one of those if you don't already have them. Rhodes is us and yes can use other factions if you get them. Allies yep. Story and music are amazing yep. You already decided what you'd like to do with the anime so ill leave you to it :). I look forward to seeing you try the game and enjoy it. There is 1 more starset song but Ill let you figure out where it is when you get to it :P Id love to see what playlist your using however! To give a quick rundown of the basic of basics in terms of the worldbuilding: Think of Originium as super coal, except that getting originium particles into you via ANY infection vector doesnt just give you black lung, but rather oripathy, which turns your whole body into originium crystals in a slow agonizing process that causes great pain, culminating in you exploding and releasing a ton of originium particles, becoming a secondary infection source. This is the ultimate fate of ALL infected thus far, no cure has been found, and current treatments only slow down the process and alleviate symptoms. But like coal, its pretty much the most powerful energy source, and people have been using it so long it has become a part of everyday life. Yet you cant have superspreader events everyday in every city, so the infected have become quite heavily discriminated against. Rhodes Island (based on the Isle of Rhodes, the home of the Knights Hospitaller in real life, not Rhode Island, the American state) is one of a small handful of organisations trying to develop a cure for oripathy, and create better conditions as a whole for the infected. But due to the world being the way it is, as well as spoiler reasons which i shall not delve into, it finds itself increasingly involved in international geopolitical struggles that range in scale between the struggles of a small rural village in Kazimierz (read: hypercapitalist Poland) against overzealous treasure hunters, to active wars between states, to interacting with godlike beings who live amongst humans.

I feel like I understand, but at the same time, I feel like I don't understand what you said. 😂 I suppose it'll take me a while to fully process the concepts and words in Arknights. So Rhodes Island (tripped me up so much when I tried to say the name myself lol) is an organization, while the area itself is called Isle of Rhodes... Got it! So they're basically like those grassroots organizations!
@somethingeasy333 Жыл бұрын
@Trailblazer_Ririna To clarify, due to originium also being a part of the weather cycle in Terra and creating frequent regional disasters (known as Catastrophes) which can also become vectors for infection, most nations have taken to building gigantic moving cities, also known as nomadic cities, so they can move out of the way of any Catastrophes. The Isle of Rhodes is (loosely) the real life inspiration for the organisation, and does not actually exist in the universe of the game. In the game, Rhodes Island is the name both of the organisation, and landship (like a smaller nomadic city, but it's still massive) that serves as their base of operations.

As a F2P player myself, i can say that you can have all characters do you want very easy, excluding the limited (why they make mumu limited 😢) but dont worry the duplicate dont impact very much, it helps but is not essencial, skins usually can be purchased by in game currency, a very good and deep story(some stories take it quite literally),events that can make you feel in space, others underwater. all kinds of genre of musics with very good ones, the gameplay in the start is slow but gets a lot better. Negative side(in my opinion). •Autofarm dosen't exist. •late game is time consuming. •Micromanagement in the base(for me is not that bad). If you plan to make a gameplay video of AK, problaby will be people that will "guide" you in what characters to take, but take what you want, your joy is the important part. Remember Doctors : Kill the ocean, pay respect to the pioneer in between the stars, and protecc the child operators.

Really glad to see someone new discovering Arknights! This game has top tier music both in the game (rythm in literature and martyr my beloveds) and the character themes! My favorite part of game play is ghe rogue modes Caerula Harbor and the castle one! Both very enjoyable and a great way to practice strategy without risk! I definetly reccomend listening to the music as well as trying out the game!

The music really is great~ Even from these trailers! Are the rogue modes super difficult? Is it the "end game" of Arknights? I think someone said that it was, but I can't seem to find the comment that says it. :3 I'm definitely going to be releasing the gameplay VOD next week Friday! And hopefully, check out the music once I finish all of the trailers and PVs (regardless of how long this takes). Gotta see all of the beautiful outfits!!!

@Trailblazer_Ririna the music is one of the best parts imo! And thr Rouge modes are less endgame than the Contengency contracts which is where its super difficult. You can beat both versions of Integrated Strategies (the rouge modes) with 4 star characters iirc! One of my friends even beat IS3 with just two characters😊 It's more all about strategy than just stong unit win ect. Really reccomend watching some IS2/IS3 play throughs!

Just to jump in here, most of the grinding will be playing stages you already completed on auto-mode, so it's not really difficult but rather time consuming (days or sometimes weeks to get enough materials to upgrade your characters) That's why lower rarity characters are very useful at the beginning and shouldn't be ignored, since they cost less to upgrade Anyways, really enjoyed your reaction, looking forward to more :)

Most was already said, so I'll just resume a few (non-spoiler) things: - Yes, the game is basically a tower defence game with waifus and husbandos as "towers" - The difficulty starts very low and ramps up somewhat quickly. However, as was said, it is possible to clear MOST of the content with a full team of 4-stars and below. More recent content often requires a single 6-star as a "core unit", but since there's a borrow system where you can borrow someone else's units, you can simply borrow that 6-star if you don't have it and be good. - The world in the game is quite dark. Basically, everyone is an "animal-person", whether it's a real animal (wolf, cat, crocodile) or fictional characters (Onis, Dragons, etc.). There isn't a single "normal" human in that world (there are theories that the Doctor (us) is one, but it's just theories since we never see under the hood) - Originium is basically the center point of this game. It causes "catastrophies" (basically natural disasters like meteor showers or hurricanes), after which there will be Originium Crystals in the area where it happened. - Originium Crystals are used for basically everything in the world, from powering cities, to allowing people to use Arts (aka Magic), however it can also cause Oripathy, which is commonly known in the community as "Magical Rock Cancer", because that's what it is. If you're infected, your cells gradually turn into black crystal (when you see the black angular spots on people, that's what that is), until your body reaches critical mass, and you turn into a full on crystal, releasing originium particles around you, infecting anyone nearby. That is the main reason why 'The Infected' are hated, and treated like the plague. - The gacha system is very generous. Personally one of the better ones I've seen in recent games. There are also many in-game ways to earn its gacha currency, so if you are even slightly frugal, you get enough for many pulls when a new banner comes. - And as someone else said, with every new banner, they have a system where you are guaranteed to get a 5-star or higher rarity within your first 10 pulls. - That and the soft pity on the regular banners means you will eventually build up your team. (The "Limited" Banners have their own soft pity, and since those only last a limited time, it's more annoying to get)
@Trailblazer_Ririna Жыл бұрын
Although I feel like I've read about the Originium from other comments, I think your explanation was the easiest to understand for some reason. Or maybe it just finally clicked in my head! Not sure. hehe But either way, it's really sad that the Infected are treated like that. T^T I'm gonna have to practice some good self-control for the gacha side of things! I can't wait to play today~
@IanColquitt11 ай бұрын
Outfits are not their main source of income, that would be limited operators! They never come back as featured ops, and are only obtainable through a special shop or getting (un)lucky on a different limited banner, so whales spend a lot to max limited operator potential! But this game is very f2p friendly! I'm almost fully f2p(just buy the monthly $5 supply) and I have tons of high rarity characters and have fully completed the story and most events
@IanColquitt11 ай бұрын
I'd also like to add the game is very generous with premium currency, giving you a lot weekly, and giving free pulls during major events and in event shops. Also, every time you complete a mission at 3 stars or 4 stars you get a currency that can either be converted into pulling currency or used to buy outfits

Also, this is not one of the questions you asked, so treat it more as pesonal opinion rather than suggestion: The game has multiple voice packs in different languages. The base and full one is Japanese, while the rest EN, CN, KR are partial. And, I don't know how well you with JP, since it is first video I watching from you, I still would suggest it over EN voices. Even though in general EN voice actors did a very good job, JP VAs (in my opinion) did a GODLIKE work across the board, and I still prefer using them. Though, the game allows to choose the language of the voice for *each and every unit you have specifically* So it is possible to just set JP as a base lane and then choose and mix voices however you personally like
@Trailblazer_Ririna Жыл бұрын
Hmmmmmm, I can understand JP better than EN at this point (for listening), but I heard lots of good things about both the EN and JP. I guess for the first-time gameplay, I'll set EN as base lane and then have JP for the rest. And after that, for the casual streams (no VOD), I'll change it if I prefer JP a bit more. I'm just personally amazed that they let you choose the language of the voice for each unit. O_O It makes me wish more games would allow for that!
@VCE4 Жыл бұрын
@@Trailblazer_Ririna well, it probably comes from the fact that other voices than original JP ones were not planned initially. It is the first game from Hypergryph (the devs) after all. Different voices were added gradually, in batches. So it makes sense to make voice settings more customizable when we have (at that time) like only 20 EN voiced units. And, add here a regional voices too. By that I mean, we have several "main" languages that characters speak (EN, JP, CN), but we also have a cases of unique voice batches of specific languages. For example, aside of the main ones, we have units with Italian, German and Russian voice actors, which we could choose to use for those specific characters.

So everyone is an animal person... Interesting! I couldn't really tell from the get-go if the game just focused on animal people (but had humans) or if there were no humans at all in that world in any case. That's probably why everyone (as you say), including myself, thought that being infected means becoming an animal person. They don't really explain much in the trailers and PVs so unless I play the game and/or it was explicitly stated to be like that somewhere and I just never saw it, I doubt I would have understood that just from these. Just a two cents as to why others might have thought the same as myself! :3
