I've been to Honolulu and Hilo last month for my college graduation trip with my parents. I had a blast and loved trying out the local food and hanging out by the beaches! I'd recommend visiting the Big Island and Maui next time!

Hikes: Kokohead & Diamond Head. Haleiwa: Cage-shark diving (do the first tour of the day; do not eat anything prior, & consider taking a Dramamine). Also in Haleiwa, eat shave ice (it is great with sweet beans on bottom; think they are called adzuki beans). Body-surfing at Makapuu beach. Byo-Do-Inn Temple Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor Eat: Portuguese sausage, hot malasadas, Huli-huli chicken, poi, lau lau, lomi lomi salmon, a plate lunch. Oh, writing this while still watching. See you had already done the Diamond ahead hike. The Kokohead one has amazing views too.

Many years ago, I was stationed in Oahu with the Navy. I spent most of my time exploring the island and it’s many interesting sights. I hardly ever visited Waikiki Beach as it was and is way too touristy. I also went to the other islands such as Kauai, Maui and the Big Island. I want to go back there someday. 😎🤙

I lived in HNL for 6 years - one of the BEST things on the Island was the Chart House Bouillabaisse, but they only served it a few months in the winter. You will find Chart Houses in some of you favorite places (HNL, OGG, SAV to name a few)

We are retired and Living in Kona but when we used to live in Honolulu and had friends visiting we always started their trip out with exactly the tour you did with your friend --it was fun to see you enjoying yourself in a smart way on Oahu and it made me pinch myself for being lucky enough to be living in Kona! I lived on the Big Island for 6 years. Waipio valley is a must do, as is visiting the Volcano. If you can get to the top of Mauna Kea, that is a good idea also. So much to see and do there!

My trip to Oahu was a 2 stop overnight flight. I was so excited i was the only one on the plane who had the light on and didn't sleep. Just read a book. Arrived in the morning, then up all day and sat on Waikiki beach to watch the sunset. Checked into the hotel and don't remember much after. Best feeling in the world: waking up and not knowing where the heck you are. That 30-45 seconds is always my favorite. That's worth being that tired for, like you were saying.

Oahu is amazing! One of the best experiences I've been to. Truly paradise! The Kailua beach was the best beach. And that lighthouse trail is so great too. You must do diamond head hike and also go the kualoa ranch for a unique experience.

Next time you visit. Check out the KoKo head Crater stairs hike. It's a vigorous cardio workout of 1048 stairs but you're rewarded with a beautiful view of Hawaii Kai at the end.

I agree with you. The first time I went to Hawaii I didn't have a car. And thought Honolulu was no big deal. The second time I had a car and that's when I got exposed to the other side of the island. It is amazing once you get away from the tourist section.

My wife Julie and I were in Honolulu this past September 2021 for two short days then we flew over to a Maui for a week! While in Honolulu we stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and loved it!!!

@@JettingJulia - I think you and Eric are going to enjoy Maui more so than Oahu, it's not nearly as commercialized. Be prepared - because of where it's located, in the valley between the two volcanoes that formed the island, plus the trade winds, final approach into Kahului Airport can be quite bumpy - fasten your seat belt!! If you have the opportunity, check out the giant banyan tree in Lahaina, and of course, no visit to Maui is complete without a drive to the top of Mt Haleakala - bring a windbreaker jacket!! Julia…You and Eric will Love love love Maui! Be sure to do the Road to Hannah! But you need to start out Super Early in the morning to see the sunrise! Also make sure y’all stop and get some Banana Bread as it’s the Best! Be super careful when driving as the roads can be very narrow! Y’all will love it! Also there’s one part on the Road to Hanna where y’all can see the exact location of the opening scene to Jurassic Park where they fly over the Rock! It’s Freaking Awesome!!

Great video, never have spent much time on Oahu , but did get married at Diamond Head. You are lucky, that trip would have cost you a good chunk of change if you had to pay for it. Julia you always put a smile on my face ☺️. I recommend on The Big Island - Hawaii’s tallest waterfall is Akaka Falls plunging over 400 feet!! And then 3 miles down the road is the Honomu Goat Dairy where you can pet and feed baby goats!!
