Thank you so much for talking about this topic! I desperately needed to hear this (I listened twice!). My eldest son ( 27 yrs old ) was hit and killed by a drug induced driver back on Oct. 31, 2022. I'm still going through the court system here in South Carolina. It has been a horrible mess and has took allot out of my mind and physical health. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks this past Oct-Nov. I found out that the stress has caused me to develop type2 diabetes. I'm doing my best to keep a positive mindset through all of this. I don't have any family or friends to help me get through this. I haven't been faithful to the craft since my son's death. I've let my home look like a whirlwind hit it. Yet, I've been doing what I can to keep from falling any deeper into depression. I do get out of bed and go outside to grocery shop and such. I'm doing everything I can to keep myself from ending up in the hospital again. People tell me that with time I will get through this. I hold onto that. I pray my son is in a better place and he isn't suffering anymore. I love him deeply and miss him very much!💜💖

I am so sorry for your loss, my daughter is 21 and moved far away for work and that messed me up so much, i can't imagine the loss and pain you are feeling but i do know your son wouldn't want you to be suffering, he would want you to live your life full and happy in his memory, i hope the court system can get you some much needed closure soon so you can start to heal. x

I can relate to the sentiment behind wanting to hibernate and wait until spring. Just sleep and eat and binge watch movies like they did in the old days. Lol. We have to keep pressing towards the mark. It’s different in the different seasons, but there is no season of void. They may not have leaves, but the trees are still there standing up tall to the winds and freeze and sun. They have to hold on tight with their roots to the earth that slips away with flood and ice and burrowing animals that do hibernate. It takes a lot of courage to brave the elements in winter. We have to be inspired by the pines with their evergreen needles and their cones of seeds that feed animals who are braving life too. Winter is for warriors who know how to retreat to the shadows and let themselves heal. We’ll be able to notice the days getting a little longer in a few more weeks. The Lenten rose will bloom, and snowdrops will cover the ground strategically. In the meantime, cheers to electricity!

Thank you for sharing this. I noticed my son is having this. His Relationship with this woman is dragging him down. He can't get out of it because they have a baby to get out of it. Because they have a baby together. I feel so sorry for him. Because I can't help help him. But I sent him this podcast and I'm hoping he will listen to It. Thank you again.

Thrilled that you've started a podcast and so excited to listen to every episode! This one here is definitely one of your best, imo. I am working my way through some childhood trauma, particularly religious trauma, right now that was triggered by the passing of a parent and this was so helpful to me. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to put these together for us. We are lucky to have you! Sending big hugs and lots of love your way!

While I really like the focus on gratitude, making necessary routine/ mental habit changes and turning things over to the divine (and have found it definitely helps me), I'm a bit concerned with saying that it's the cure to get through depression. I feel like it might suggest people ought to be able to spiritually girl boss their way through chemical imbalances, mental health issues, environmental factors and trauma while not recognizing the possible need for (and lack of) counselling, support services and medication. I worry it could make people blame themselves for not manifesting joy when the causes, circumstances and resources are beyond their control.
