Hoobastank is underrated due to the fact that they put out such a powerful sound from just one guitar, one bass and a drum kit.

the lead guitarist (Dan Estrin) is also an important part of creating the beautiful riffs. Bass cool and all but without the sweet lead guitar riffs it would be pointless lol

Yep totally agree 100% Defeinitely the best Modern Alternative Rock band even to this day. There are only a few bands can keep up with them, such as *Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Smile Empty Soul, Trapt, Acceptance, Crossfade, Alter Bridge, Every Avenue, Nickleback, Year of the Rabbit, Theory of a Deadman, Greenday, Sum41, Jimmy Eat World, Rammstein, Forever The Sickest Kids, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, Submersed* And for those who are wondering about Linkin Park and Disturbed etc, they are more relevant in terms of Metal, but not in terms of Rock bands

They did have a similar sound at the beginning during their nu metal era (early 2000's) but then around 2004~2006 Hoobastabk changed their sound and style completely, leaving the nu metal behind completely and transforming into alternative rock style
