I had this jet as a kid and really liked it. I though the gun pod was cool. We didn't have a lot of money at the time, so getting this jet at the time was awesome because we couldn't afford the bigger vehicles.

I had this guy as a child and I liked him. And one of the reasons why I did is that he had only minimal accessories so it was harder to lose them. Actually I still have him complete as of this day, so I was kind of right about that. :D We liked the circuit pattern on his suit which looked really sci-fi as a child and his muscular legs were really impressive. We also found the name to be cool with my friends so he got good rep. We thought that he must be really hard to hit due to his leaps on his strong legs, and we also thought that he must be a real sharpshooter if all he needs is his pistol. He was much more popular among us than any of the other BF2000 figures. We didn't really have the chance to match them with their vehicles as only the wealthiest Hungarian parents could buy them in the first couple years after the country ceised to be a "people's republic", so we had to use these guys as individual soldiers - and Maverick succeeded in that role for us. Interesting fact that we didn't really have the two-packs, but the single carded figures here.

I think you're definitely correct with the point about "standard" Joe vehicles and figures at Battle Force 2000s timing. The first to third wave of Joe vehicles were slightly modified takes on real world military equipment. By the time BF2000 hit, Joe already had fantastical units like the H.A.V.O.C. and Conquest, which was literally based on the experimental X-29. So yeah, they just came a little to late to the party to be used as experimental unit testing soldiers.

Good review. Another GI Joe plane cast in 1:25 scale. Three dimensional scans and digital upscale to 1:18 would make a great 3D printer project. Also, install a seat the pilot can sit correctly. Great review!

Fun review I got the two-pack with Blocker and never had a single BF2000 vehicle but did use Maverick (Yes I loved Top Gun then as now!) as the pilot of the Conquest as for some odd reason my Slipstream vanished around that time. What I liked and was special to me about BF2000 were the two-packs only found at a toystore on Hollywood Blvd and for some reason I never saw single carded figures in the stores I was going to. BF2000 was s good stand alone concept but didnt get to mature in any way. Also pity no note of the head sculpt that appeared on Maverick, Charbroil, and Super Trooper concurrently!

Oh me too. I used to look at it in the Pamphlets at the time and alot of these always looked really cool. This Jet even with the weak Future Fortress gimmick is one of the better of the 6 vehicles.

Battle Force 2000 was always an interesting concept just never hit the goal seems like a missed opportunity to work these into a G.I. Joe/Transformers line I could picture it as a team of Joes and autobots reformed after an ambush

It's funny, when I look at Maverick's helmet, it looks like a furby. I think that piloting the Vector would be terrifying. That cockpit glass is huge, not much protection there. Enjoying these Battleforce 2000 shows. Thanks for sharing.

There is a South American repaint of Maverick that came out during the 1990s that was a member of Eco Warriors named Biomassa.

Again, they could have made the vehicle a Transformer and made more money from it. To really cross sell they could have found a way to make the "pod" a trouble bubble" and re use an existing mold! Thanks for sharing your video with us!

Just a thought that I had since Battle Force 2000 came out, it seems similar to Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. Sure, their was no Mastermind, Saw Boss, etc, but some coloring seemed to give a hint to Wheeled Warriors. And instead of swapping out vehicle parts, the parts formed something.

maverick reminds me of the centurion leader. his helmet could almost double as a diving helmet. the sky sweeper is my favorite vehicle, followed by vindicator. dodger is the best figure.

I'm trying to win him on ebay as we speak. He shan't go for more than 30 dollars. I just paid 26 for Knockdown. His plane looks pretty cool. Don't know if I'll get it though. You were pretty glowing about the bubble pod thingy. Surprised you didn't include that in your strong points about the Vector.

It's worth mentioning that BF2K were mostly killed in the comic except for Dodger. Sad really. So few Joes came from my homestate of Iowa and those who did were killed.

Not a bad jet or figure. The canopy gun can break if the jet is not stored properly. I have to replace mine.

Odd that the unique vehicles in the line don’t come with their exclusive drivers. Only Maverick can drive the Vector, so he should certainly be packaged with it, but anybody can fly a Skystriker, so Ace isn’t necessary. The design of these vehicles mark a dramatic change in the line. Former vehicles were sturdy; these and all vehicles after were just flimsy molds with little assembly needed.

This was one of the GI Joe vehicles I managed to convince my parents to get me. I didn't Maverick. Currently Grunt version 3 from 1991 and Star Brigade Duke version 6 are in the Vector Jet.

All except Dodger... Dodger had just been re-released as a Sonic Fighter in 1990 and discontinued in 1991, so I suspect his toys being on the shelf is how he survived the 1991 bloodbath in the comic.

i agree with the jet...it just BARELY scraps the bottom of mid-tier. while i don't like its design that much i do like its armament and the pod could be played with separately which is cool. the figure? oh i think ur way too forgiving man! his gun was lame, that blue helmet is ridiculous, and that silver vest looks like something out of buck rogers!. bottom tier all the way!

I like the Modern Joes. ( But not as much as the originals) Because they make them look like their TV or Cartoon counter-part or look like the ones on the art of the packages. But The Modern Maverick, I don't like it. It doesn't look like the vintage one. Easy pass.

My cousin had Dee-Jay when we were kids and I kind of liked him. He just looked funky and exotic. But of course other joes were higher on my priority list. Knockdown though... just bought him a week ago or so on my journey to complete BF2000, and God he's awful! Many joes that I didn't like I can appreciate now as an adult collector (like Avalanche or Blocker), but not Knockdown - just a downright horrible action figure.
