Well, that is not remotely how I thought you were going to alter your sweatshirt! I thought you would just make the hood smaller. Since I don't tend to use the hoods on my jackets, I really like your idea of a collar that can be cinched up to make a turtleneck-like collar. Very cool, Tracy!!! This is a 5-star hack! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an excellent hack! So many cute sweatshirts, but unless it's really super windy, I would never use the hood. That three inches is a perfect height to keep your neck warm! Including when you want to wear it as an inside layer under a rain cover.

Oh you just made my whole 2023 and beyond!!! Every time I get a hoodie I literally take a pair of scissors and just chop it off right above that seam. 😝 I have very long hair and those hoods would drive me bananas!!! This is a wonderful idea! I don’t wear hoodies at all, even though so many of them are really cute. Because of disabilities, with chronic pain problems, I have to lay down often to rest. Having the bulky hood at the back of my neck while laying down hurts, and I don’t want to have to change out of my hoodie, only to have to put it back on a few minutes later. So I don’t wear hoodies at all. Now I have a way to wear hoodies; without the hood! Thank you!

My friend going through chemo is loving her hoodies for when she doesn’t feel like putting on a wig to go out in public. I am almost 60 and if I am cold, I pull up the hood. Others may think I look silly but looking silly and being warm far outweighs being cold :)

Good idea but I like a hooded jacket, not a hooded sweatshirt. The hoods are always too big.on the jackets. You have given me the courage to try cutting down the size of the hood. Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this trick. I had no idea how easy this could be. Well, that is. You made it look very easy. Myself on the other hand may find it a bit of a struggle. LOL I am going to try this some time. BTW. I liked the marking pencil that you used. Can you share more information about that as well? I have all sorts of marking tools in my collection of marking tools. But I noticed that the one you were using worked more like tailors chalk. I have tailors chalk but the flat side gets worn and not so fine of line after a while. The tool you showed us looks like it may keep a fine tailors line all the time? Thank you so much.

I have a zipper hoodie jacket unlined hood. So would I cut perhaps a 6 inch width and fold down half to finish it off. Or would that make it too heavy? Thanks Lou
