Chevrolet Truck Door Speaker Installation

Here is how to install speakers in the door of a Chevrolet truck. To remove the door panel on a Chevrolet truck you need to unplug all of the electrical connectors and remove a few trim pieces. Once the door panel is removed, speaker installation is easy. Pry the old speaker out with a screwdriver and then drill new mounting holes for the new speaker and replace the door panel. This video shows you how to remove the door panel on a Chevrolet truck and also how to install door speakers in a Chevrolet truck. The truck in this video is a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado.

On the DOOR LOCKS & WINDOW SWITCHES --- I found it much easier to remove the big black BOX from the PANEL --- which pops out with just two large black clips instead of removing the multiple Wiring Harness(es) from the Switches & YES - the Controller WILL fit through the HOLE ... just my observation ... Thank YOU for a most USEFUL Video though = it showed me everything I needed to KNOW & saved me a "lot" of BREAKAGE !

Me too. It must be cheaper, lighter and faster for them to assemble them this way. It would be OK if you could take it apart without the brittle plastic breaking.

The door clips are available on Amazon . Like 7 bucks for 50 or something. Be prepared before you start .You'll have a much better experience. I also recommend using the speaker to factory adapter pigtails so you can just plug into your wiring harness without cutting any wires.

You should put something on the back side of speaker to keep water off speakers as water runs inside the doors .

Nice vid... but how come they stopped using screws like in my 62 Nova.... that door panel just screwed right in, no muss no fuss... I miss simple cars.

+ACoustaDC I don't know why they stopped doing that. These GM cars are tough to open up without breaking half the fasteners. Simple screws holding everything together would make a lot more sense. At some point, some car designer must have decided that screw heads are ugly and body panels should be mysteriously held in place.... or it was a lot faster, cheaper and easier to assemble cars with parts that just snap together.

why didn't he reuse the white cone that's on the back off the original speaker, so you can just reclip it back on without out drilling holes?

I installed new 6" door sony speakers in my 97 tahoe and they sound like crap! Sound like a distortes tweeter! Plz help! Same thing in my rear panel speakers. Is it my factort deck that needs replaced?

Yes. There must be something wrong with the stereo itself. Normally putting new speakers in sounds good. The other possibility is that the wires are bad somewhere between the stereo and speakers.

They are Rockford Fosgate Prime 6 1/2 speakers. power range: 2-45 watts RMS (90 watts peak power)

I don’t remember. The two wires had different sized connectors on them, so it wasn’t possible to screw it up and put them on backwards. I just unplugged the old ones and plug the new ones in.

Crutchfield included factory wiring harnesses with the speakers, so I just plug them into the speaker and plug them into the truck. I don’t remember what model number of the speakers were. I hope I showed the box in the video.

Seals airflow so the sound is better are hits harder but i use killmat its a sound deadner you can look up videos on how to do it

I don’t know. Most cars probably have pop off panels, but a lot of them have a screw or two that’s hidden. They’re all a little bit different.
