No worries about your English! I am here to help! It may be because you have a USB 2.0 Does it happen when you try to play movies?. Did you try connecting it to you computer? and get the same results?

Might be the tv box. Failing that it could be the video player your using. Some pre-installed video players are rubbish. Try MX-Player or VCL Player. Both of those will play pretty much any video format. I've used 2tb hard drives on tv box without any problems.

I got a MK809V-4K micro pc which runs on android i connected a USB memory stick 128 GB and a18GB SD CARD the problem i am having is the both memory thing dont show the full memory. The memory stick shows 11MB alltogether and the SD card shows 3.5GB. Can you tell how i can get the full memory out the both memory devices. I have a 2 tb wd hd with 1.1.gb remaining inside this drive after trying to transfer the 5 gb inside to my shield. The shield has plenty space for the 5 gb to hold. It appears the 1.1 gb is all DL apps. Only the data left the 2 tb drive I need to know how I can return the 1.1 gb to the shield. Thank you

Thanks for the video! Do you have any experience with ext4 formatted drives? Android seems to recognize ntfs drives fine, but movies streaming from the drive stutter badly (and drive access is virtually constant at all times for no apparent reason). Ext4 formatted drives (my preference) which should be recognized - after all, the basis of android is linux - are not recognized at all! Any ideas?

hi , how are you man, i followed all your videos until i was interested to buy A96Z tvbox and finally i bought it just yesterday received, but i need your help some thing bothered me about it, i have external hard disk of 2TB transcend it have two partition first partition is 1.5TB i put all my movie here and other partition remained 500gb for other files. the issue if i plug in to this TVBOX A96Z is detecting normally but if you go to file explorer and open the movies folder it keep saying loading please wait and stay for long long time and even got error frequently to "wait" or "close it". does it have limit of hard disk reading or it can not read proper, main purpose is to read my hard disk smoothly and watch all my movies easily and explorer my files, i thought this is 2gb ram tvbox would be a little high specs with good proper speed.please what should i do.....!!!!

Eramil - I use HiMedia Q10. It works right out of the box for any external NTFS drive, up to 8TB. THe file explorer is wonderful and you don't have to jump through the hoops, like the poster here has. I have no idea how they implemented their Android OS, but that's the only Android box that works as it should for movie watching so far. I connect 2 4TB HD's to it and they both work like a charm, all powered by the box itself. If you want something to work, DON'T BUY cheap stuff, like the unit here. I needed another box for my bedroom and didn't want to pay $180. I bought a T95Z Plus Android 4K box for $65, thinking: oh, look at all these specs! THen I I connect an NTFS drive to it, and it wants to format it. Can't read it. Same with Mac formatted drives. HiMedia Q10 reads them all, no question asked, like a TViCO TViX boxes back in the days. I kind of hacked the T95Z to work with TNFS Drives by installing something from Paragon (paid $10 for the app), but it's like trying to get into a room through a butthole! The explorer itself is horrible. All I wanted is to press Play and the movies in the folder would play one after the other. Sorry, can't do that. Young people will tough it out, but not your mother-in-law. Get yourself a dedicated box, instead of these cheap "I can do it all" boxes, that can't do anything properly. THe only thing I like is watching KZbin on them. But I can' do that on Smart TV already. Why can't more TV box makers implement something like HiMedia Q10 has??? Grrr.... Hope this rant will help you not to make a mistake. I am still trying to see whether I should donate those 3 Android boxes I have lying around or I can do something with them, somehow. If anyone knows how to make the browsing experience easier for 4-8TB drives on these boxes, please chime in. And, no, I don't want to connect my hard drive to a router and make it a NAS. It would be OK solution if I had just 1. But I have a dozen. What do you do now? Just want to connect one at a time, say Pictures drive, or Cartoons drive or Movies Drive, or Music Vids drive.

I have a TX6s TV Box (android ver. 10.0) I also have 2 TB USB Thumb drive, and a 1 TB Micro SD Card. Issue 1: Can you show us a diagram of wiring for External HD? It is hard to hear correctly. Also do on full screen (pic in pic is hard to see everything... OK? (Please) What format do I need to use on 2 TB Thumb Drive. Options use format available in Box Example as internal Storage or removeable? Actually drive will be used 100% on TV Box. Issue 2: I tried to use a 128 GB Thumb drive when I inserted in TV Box it installed directory list (Okay so far) Then I powered everything off (Until screen showed no connection/power) removed thumb drive, inserted win10 notebook, powered on. First thing system did was tell me Drive needed to be reformatted to remove possible Drive errors (I think Microsoft doesn't like Fat32 format and is trying to format as Exfat... But if you do you loose your Directories... Understand?) yes or no option is given, (Supports my previous thought here!) Now you can store whatever in Directories on Thumb Drive. This worked fine for a week, than all of a sudden as I was watching a file transfer at about the 35% mark Pop up was displayed Thumb drive is now 8 GB and needs to be formatted, no option here to pass around. So I clicked (bottom Right to remove 128 GB Thumb Drive system said no drive present (??) Did a Computer Management and Drive has no I.D Letter. Cannot access to format and start again. This is a Kingston 128 GB Data Traveler 101'... Not a Junk aftermarket Drive... What to do now? You can email me or /and post ansers here .... almost certain other users a having similar issues. Issue 3: If using an unpowered External HD and relying on TV Boxes 12 VDC/2Ah power supply (I know it is not enough powwer for both items) Can I use a 12 VDC (Example) 4, 6, or higher Ah Power supply? This way the power switch on TV Box will power down everything when switched off. Or do I need a Higher Volt (DC) also?

But my Mbox still says I only have standard internal storage and will not let me use my USB or SD Card for storage for Movie Downloads from software like Show Box? How do I make the Mbox recognize these as INTERNAL Storage? I have tried formatting for Internal use... No luck. You said in your video you can hook up any size hard drive to an android box. I have A WD 2 tb drive format in NTFS and the system does not see the drive. If I put it in fat 32 it does it sees the drive. Does anyone know what the problem it might be? Leelbox M8S pro

Richard B yur currently using the old android tv box, get MXQ pro then u will get that NTFS/FAT32/16

You may be running KitKat 4.4, it think that that is the problem. Just in case you cannot update to 5.1.

Do you know how to properly unmount the HD from MXQ? I tried to go settings and so on but after doing it when i hook the external hd to the PC its giving me a prompt to scan the disk and fix errors because it wasn't removed properly

Great tutorial. I am looking to purchase the MXQ Pro box after the many reviews I have read about it. I want to also connect my external hard drives x 3 to the MXQ box. Two of the hardrives are WD of which have their own seperate power source. However the 3rd drive is a WD portable hard drive and requires the power from the MQ box. I don't plan to play any games on the box but stream only, like youtube etc. Do you guys think that I will have any power related problems using the portable WD hard drive (itb) withy the MXQ box? I have a usb powered hub that I could plug the portable hard drive into if needed.

Received the MXQ Pro box today. I Connected it all up, but unfortunately it will not recognise three Wd external hard drives connected all at the same time. (2 x 1tb and 1 x 2tb) Two of the hard drives (1tb & 2tb) are externally powered and the other is a 1tb portable external hard drive of which I have plugged into a powered usb hub so it then has its own power. I have swapped the usb cables (hard drives) to different usb ports and so to rule out a usb port failure on the MSQ box but the MSQ is still only seeing two drives at a time. The MSQ has Kodi installed of which I am still learning it's functions.

I am trying to understand what you try to say. If you download apps from Google Store it will not be saved in external storage. USB drive can be used to download APK files, and then execute it in the box.

Greetings you! I was wondering how to I unformat my 8tb external Hardrive on my Android Tv Box, so I can use all my 8tb instead of the 1.3tb storage. I formatted my Hardrive only for portable usage (not format for "this device only") thinking it would still allow me to use my entire 8tb storage, but come to find out after formatting, it doesn't. I would like to unformat my hard drive, and place storage access back to Internal Storage, so I can have the full use of the 8tb storage. @@markcaldwell778 No, my box reads my 8TB external hard drive now. When I formatted my hard drive to my box as its primary storage, it was incapable of using the entire 7.3TB available on the brand new external hard drive. I was pissed that I possibly ruined it! I researched how to un-format a hardrive, but you need to purchase a computer software to do so. The next day, I called a local computer & phone repair shop, and the owner told me if it doesn't take much effort to re-format my box, that he'll do it for free. I took it to him and within 10 minutes of figuring out what happened, he was able to un-format my box from the hard drive and activate its original storage system. The TV box changed its formatting system from a NTFS format, to a lesser effective format of Fat32. Fat32 is only capable of reading 1TB to a maximum of 2TB, depending on your device system which you are about to format the hard drive to. After he re-formatted the hard drive, my Android box was capable of reading the entire 7.3TB as it previously did before my formatting it as its primary storage. I now just plug and play it to my box without formatting. It reads it just fine as an external hard drive. So no, *not all* boxes will only read a maximum of a 2TB external hard drive. That is false. The owner ultimately did it for free, and only asked if I would spread the word about his shop and his repairs as courtesy. I ended up taking him an order of food from restaurant literally right across the street from his business of his preference the very next week for his kind gesture of service.

Hi! Exfat does not work in some drives in Android operating systems, I will recomend you to format the drive and NTFS, I had tried up to 4 Terrabites without problems. One more thing! make sure your drive is powered externally and not with a USB, you can also try this application that I searched for you, it may resolve your problem, without reformating your drive, I did not try it. you are running an OS, you have to see how many GB you have in your hard drive, and also the type of format, that may be why you do not see it. On 5.1 OS you can see up to 4 TB, the drive format is: NTFS

What format did you use on the 2 TB external Drives? Are you using Androids (TV Box) File directories? or as Removable storage or as Internal Storage?

@@davidstipek NTFS format. Just copied the video files and placed them on individual folders. Action movies, comedy, etc. Nothing else needed. Use the built-in file manager to locate the drive. Using MX Player and VCL player to play them with. Use both 1TB and 2TB with no problems. Only issues I've had is on the newer versions on Android which has a built-in security feature to prevent compywrite.

Bill Nunley I think I've finally got it. on your usb drive create: Android/data/org.mxq.kodi directory like that (I had to create the dir with the usb in my laptop). I found this info on a forum for the xmbc android box so I simply replaced the "xmbc" with "mxq" and I'm downloading to my usb with kodi/phoenix right now!

EFS runs on android, NOT on Kodi. Running "clean" will touch nothing in Kodi, only android. Using clean is for cache files (used for loading apps faster), temp files, and other junk including, sometimes, apps not used in a long time. Get the info right and, note, there is not on piece on info to tell how to transfer files. Any beginner nerd can connect a drive but a nerd would show how to use the hdd connected.

Kodi doesn't read shit. Kodi is incredibly picky about file formats....sio even if I could use Kodi for my external HDD it won't read all my files....maybe only a handful of the 30 thousand videos I got on my HDD
