A Private Garden Tour of Landscape Designer Andrew Grossmans' Home Garden. June 2024

Come see the home garden of award-winning landscape designer Andrew Grossman with us. Andrews home and gardens sit on his 1 acre property in Seekonk Massachusetts, just 10 minutes away from Providence, RI. The garden consists of several distinct spaces where Andrew has created garden rooms, or sections he has called his display gardens. The gardens on Andrews property are stunning, and his attention to detail is evident at every turn. From the plant pairings he's chosen, as well as in the details he has added. The 4 display gardens include a hot colored garden with a beautiful checker board patio interplanted with thyme, a blue-and-white garden with a rectangular lily pond, a gorgeous lattice house with a secret garden view of a rustic pond surrounded by bog plantings, and a swimming pool garden. You will also find a cutting garden currently planted with David Austin roses, dinner plate dahlias, and sun flowers. The house and property has been featured in numerous national publications, including Design New England, Old House Journal, Garden Gate, Country Living Gardener, Country Home, and Fine Gardening. Hi Gardening Friends! Just select "more" in the square of text that appears under the video. Also, I have seen several questions regarding deer control, pest management, black spot on roses, and maintenance of the garden. I will answer what I can here. Andrew uses Bobbex Animal Repellent spray ( amzn.to/4cmjOX8) once every 7 days and he uses a battery operated backpack sprayer (similar to this: amzn.to/3yTAHK3) to apply the repellent to his garden. He prefers the animal repellent vs. the deer specific repellent as he finds it more effective against other pests as well, such as bunnies etc. Andrew maintains his garden himself. I'm not sure if he does anything specific to his roses for disease management, but I will be sure to ask. HI Steph. Wow!! What a lovely surprise! Andrew has a great sense of what to plant where and what plants have great colour and textural contrasting features. I noticed his jewel garden which is quite unusual and the natural pond was almost a surprise as it was so well planted. I like his gentle and organic way of planting so that nothing really is a stand-out plant. It all gels together really well. Thanks Steph for showing us something brave and individually creative. He has a huge area to play with...something alot of us don't have. I think he'd have some great ideas for your maple tree garden. Be interesting to see what he thinks. He would be wowed by the beautiful specimen trees and amount of colour that you have for each season of the year. Thanks again, Jo😊

I love this garden tour! I knew there was something great back there! How many acres does he have?! I love the rooms. It's something I hope to add to my garden the more I work on it! My favorite tip was planting dahlias in obelisks! I bet that looks stunning! It's a lot stronger then the stakes most people use too. I would love to see his garden in other seasons. It was a beautiful hidden gem! The property and gardens sit on 1 acre. I agree, garden rooms and defined spaces like this are serious garden goals! The rose walk, with the dahlias in the obelisks will be glorious come later this season. I agree it would be so fun to visit again at a different point in the season. Thanks for watching 💚

Andrew’s garden is magical. Steph you do know your stuff and can hold it down with a landscape designer 😅. Even with the groundhog everything looked lush. Surprised they made it without being eaten to the ground. Goodness the volunteer plants look so healthy. What kind of amendments does Andrew do to the soil? The checkerboard is def an eye catcher. Combination planting is something that I’m trying out this yr as well. Thanks for sharing!
